November in the garden! Normally not much happening but this is the time to put 'er to bed. This side delivery manure spreader is just the ticket. We grind 2nd cutting alfalfa hay - no weeds and preferably rained--on to reduce cost. Use a livestock hay grinder. Has just the right consistency once it gets rained on. And here also is what we are covering. Impressive Romanian Red clove-piece with massive roots. I have to think that MycoApply is at work here.

ANOTHER YEAR! THE HARVEST HAS BEGUN AND ONCE AGAIN, WE ARE DIGGING GOLD!
Despite a late spring of record heat in the NW, our garlic appears unaffected. It's all about keeping it wet and happy. The mighty Lost River was a life saver for the garden in the face of water district shutdowns. Can't wait to see it all. Check out these early risers!

The Lost River Muck has done it again! Check out it's effect on 2020 Redneck Wild.... absolutely huge. I swear.... this is just a random bulb. There will be 3 1/2 to 4 inchers out there. And the nice thing about this beautiful rocambole is the clove count - 9 in the outside ring alone. Probably 15 plantables total. But we won't be able to supply everyone. One customer just took 260 pounds and we are now 2/3 sold out. So don't procrastinate! Use the website or call 541-798-5941.

TREMENDOUS GRATIFICATION comes from seeing the spreading of the benefits of your work. Here we have the first early returns of the planting of the giants from the Lost River Muck masterfully executed by the people at College of the Redwoods Shively Farm near Eureka, CA. (rainy area) We are fortunate to have their narrative:

"We grew these in 3” raised beds, and prior to bed shaping spread raw cow manure and gypsum lime. Added some chicken manure pellets when smoothing the beds and a tiny bit of azomite. Planted on November 7th. Mulched with rice straw, and called it! Hand weeded probably three times, never irrigated, had some gopher damage but was eventually able to stop them. The roots on the chesnok were crazy!"
