This is what real-time field data looks like. Three sensors, three very different readings — one zone saturated, two running dry. Without this, you'd never know until the crop tells you (and by then it's too late).

That's the whole point of Basin Roots — sensors in the ground, data on a screen, decisions made before problems show up. No more needing to walk the fields or check irrigation systems.

Want to see what this looks like on your ground? Reach out — we'll walk you through it.

Buried another soil sensor today — this one's telling us moisture, temp, and conditions 24/7 without ever walking the field. If you've ever guessed on irrigation timing, this is why we stopped.

We used to guess on soil moisture. Now we don't.
This season we started running field sensors and a data dashboard here at Sunset Basin — and it worked so well it turned into its own project bringing the same setup to other Klamath Basin farms.

Less guessing. Better decisions.

This season we started running field sensors and a data dashboard here at Sunset Basin — and it worked so well it turned into its own project: Basin Roots Precision Ag, bringing the same setup to other Klamath Basin farms.

We’re excited to introduce Basin Roots Precision Ag.

Over the past several months, we’ve been building and testing a remote soil and field-monitoring system here at Sunset Basin Farms.

The project began as a way to better understand soil moisture, soil temperature, electrical conductivity, irrigation conditions, and what was happening below the surface of our own fields.

What started as a farm project has grown into a working system using field sensors, LoRaWAN connectivity, cellular gateways, live dashboards, and automated monitoring.

We created Basin Roots Precision Ag to continue developing this work and begin helping other growers and agricultural partners make more informed water and field-management decisions.

Basin Roots is still in its pilot stage, but the system is live, working, and built around the real challenges farms face here in the Klamath Basin.

Please follow Roots Precision Ag to see the equipment, field data, lessons learned, and future pilot opportunities.

Basin Roots Precision Ag is a Sunset Basin Farms company.

Earlier today, Klamath Grown hosted a community meeting at KCC to learn more about irrigation districts and what to expect with this year's drought.

On the panel was KDD Manager Scott White, Klamath Irrigation District Executive Director Gene Souza, and KDD Board Supervisor/Klamath Basin farmer Josh McPherson from McPherson Farms & High Desert Highlands. It was a very educational day that covered a lot ground in regards water rights, ground water, and irrigation district responsibilities.

Thank you to the Klamath Grown team for putting on this event and to everyone who could join us!
