…and a once painfully shy kid who has spent decades overcoming big social anxiety is asked to tell her story in front of a room full of farmer leaders from across the country. I didn’t get any pics because I was at the podium!

Every season has its own challenges, and I seem to work out a good system just as the season wraps up. Opened a new hilltop paddock this morning, likely the last of the season.

Don’t have another harvest until January, so have a LOT of pigs in the meantime. If you’re looking for a whole or half hog for your freezer, or are interested in processing your own pork, reach out!

The last couple of days have been filled with: another museum (can you tell which one?), meeting other National Farmers Union farmers from across the country, and a day and a half on Capitol Hill meeting with congresspeople.

I’m getting updates on agriculture issues from USDA officials, hearing from Department of Justice administration specializing in antitrust, and preparing for meetings with representatives in Congress. And popping to farmers markets and museums in my free time.

Farming looks different this week. As a chapter leader with Wisconsin Farmers Union and a Farmers Union Enterprises emerging leader, I’m in Washington D.C. for the National Farmers Union fly-in. Glad for the strong web of support I have back home on the farm, making it possible for me to make the most of this opportunity to learn about agriculture policy and represent farmers!
