Yesterday brought an immense loss to our farm. Maize Frost met his final moments in a horrible, traumatic event. As much as we try to be proactive and responsible goat breeders/farmers, there's no real preparation for or prevention of the surprises from Mother Nature. Our hearts are heavy today as we look ahead to small changes to mitigate future tragedy.
Maize Frost was born in March 2023 and joined our farm in June 2023. His calm and affectionate temperament made him an excellent herd sire. He sired two bucks and one doe in his time with us. Maize was always gentle in guiding the new young bucks when they were freshly introduced to the buck pen. He would playfully headbutt them and leap away, reminiscent of a fun uncle. We're going to miss this sweet, docile buck. Rest peacefully, Maize.
