Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday to this legend, my father, Sam.
Today we celebrate not just another year of life, but a lifetime of love, hard work, and dedication. For over 30 years, my dad has poured his heart and soul into the food service industry working various positions and jobs. He’s not only the best Thai chef I know—he’s also a top-tier sushi chef, a mentor, and a true family man.
As some of you may not know, my family owned a restaurant called Jai Dee Thai & Japanese Cuisine near the University of Tennessee for ~10 years from 2012 - 2022 (no relations to the current one). Every dish served carries his original recipes, his expertise, and his passion. Past and present coworkers will tell you : working with Sam meant learning from the best—and being treated with generosity, respect, and free food. Without him, Jai Dee and Thai Time wouldn’t have existed at all.
As time goes on, I want to make sure he knows how deeply he’s appreciated. We're all so busy with our lives and caught up with so many things and the next thing you know your dad is getting so old. I just want to make him proud and do things right with Thai Time while we still have time.
We love you, Dad. Thank you for everything. Happy Father's Day and shout out to all the men out there taking care of their family.
