Keep an eye out for eggs from our Pest of the Week: the Squash Vine Borer!
Few garden pests are as frustrating as the squash vine borer. One day your zucchini is thriving, and the next it's wilted and struggling.
June is prime time for squash vine borer moths to emerge and begin laying eggs near the base of squash plants. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae tunnel into the stem, disrupting the plant's ability to move water and nutrients and often causing sudden wilting. Prevention and early detection are key to saving your squash, zucchini, and pumpkin harvest!
