Captain Joe’s Seafoods

Captain Joe’s Seafoods From Our Nets to your Door. An Alaskan Fishermen Selling Wild Caught Alaska Salmon. We catch wild, sustainable salmon, to share with you.

About-

Kodiak Island is a fishing community with one of the largest fishing ports in Alaska. The Island is absolutely breathtaking from the bald eagles in the sky, to the brown bears on the shore line, to the abundant sea life swimming all around us in the ocean. With a crew of 3 plus myself, the Captain, we use a purse sein, skiff and my boat, the Salmon Barry, to harvest some of the highest qua

lity fish on the market. We have chosen to sell our fish in portions so that you can choose the quantity of salmon to cook, whether it be for 1 person or many. Our salmon portions come vacuum sealed and ready for you to put in your freezer and enjoy. We love our salmon so much that we have made it our goal to share our harvest with family, friends and you. We harvest the salmon in August and then ship it to Yakima for local pickup in September. History-

As a young man of 17 in 1973, Barry Rosenkranz headed to Kodiak to commercial fish a green horn (new crew) for the Bowhay family, who were also his neighbors in Gleed, Wa. Barry found himself in the last frontier, surrounded by an Island of beauty, in an industry of hard working individuals, and a boat full of fish. At 19 after he finished high school, he flew up to Alaska, bought a boat with a loan from the possessor and started his lifelong career of fishing. He eventually married and had three kids. When his children were old enough, the Rosenkranz’s started fishing salmon as a family around the Island. On a small boat without a shower or fridge and a diesel drip stove, the five of them harvested salmon in the summer months. Joe was 9 years old when he first started learning to operate the skiff and has never looked back. In 2006, at age 21 he bought his first boat, the Shadowfax. During his first year as Capitan, Joe had his future bride as crew on deck. Now the next generation of Rosenkranz family, Jackson, Audrey and Adeline, will continue to fish Kodiak on the Salmon Barry for years to come.
