This is coming up! This art show of my 80 paintings is very much a love song for Alaska. And, having been blessed with the richness of many years, how could it not be a celebration?
These paintings are being sold at fixed prices during the event to benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of Kodiak.

Cow parsnip/ putchki/ ugsuuteq can burn!
Some people get burns by brushing against the plant with bare skin. I get into trouble when I'm not careful with the weedwhip.
Typically washing immediately after contact prevents burns, but the rash is sneaky often appearing hours to days after contact and are made worse by sun exposure.

This plant is edible.

If you are lucky enough to come across some violets (mostly up on mountain tops this time of year), taste one. They are sweet, like peas, and a bit peppery, ike radishes.

I can't pick a favorite. I love them all.     Also, the irises and pushki (cow parsnip) are  a couple weeks early.

Snow cream! Perfect ending to a sunny, snowy day.Add sweetened condensed milk to a bowl of snow. Stir and enjoy!
