The latest Tenderloin and the Town is here. I go to Tipton, IN to try a tenderloin at a classic local place.

Visited were: Tipton Jim Dandy, The Shack of Tipton, The Tiptonian, Diana Theatre, Horton's Home & Garden, & The Dunham house.

Feel free to share this post from this page!

The TenderloinThe Jim Dandy restaurants have been a staple of the community with locations in both Tipton and Noblesville. Opened in the 60’s they have been offering made-from-scratch comfort foods like burgers and broasted chicken to visitors and residents in the area. Recently the Noblesville lo...

I was in Tipton, IN this weekend to hang out for another “The Tenderloin and the Town” blog. The featured tenderloin will be at Tipton Jim Dandy. Below is a pic of the review and read all about it later this week by following this page when the blog is posted. I can let you know right now it was thin and delicious.

It has been a year since the last "The Tenderloin and the Town" blog, but I will continue the Indiana tour this year. And to start it off, I give you The Limestone Capital of the World" - Bedford, IN

Visited were Mamma's & Pappa's, Hoover's Candy Shop, Applacres, Jiffy Treet Bedford, & Bluespring Caverns Park.

Feel free to share the blog, but please share from the Facebook post

Bedford, the limestone capitol of the world, sits right south of the “other” college town in southwest Indiana. Most of us have seen a little bit of Bedford, whether it be the Empire State Building, The Pentagon, or even the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in our own state capital of Indy. S...

So more of an Indiana thing than a tenderloin thing, but I’m in Elkhart to watch Northridge vs Crown Point in the semi-state final. Any of you all out there across the state attending a semifinal this evening?

Stopped yesterday for a tenderloin at Windmill Grill & Windmill Catering in Kokomo, IN. It was absolutely delicious. The loin was freshly fried and had tender white meat with no grizzle spots. The breading was crispy, almost cracker-like, and lightly seasoned. It was large sized, just a wonderful sandwich. I also got the tenderloin strip appetizer. It is basically a tenderloin patty cut up in strips. Make sure to get their homemade hot sauce to dip the strips or just pour on the sandwich. It was the perfect place to stop in for lunch and has a sandwich that the whole state should be proud of.

A long time ago (well… only a few years ago) you could go to Jake’s in West Lafayette on the campus of Purdue and get a late night oven sandwich or free hotdogs. The powers that be are in the process of changing the small commercial businesses into skyscrapers up on Chauncey Hill, but luckily Jake’s had moved to downtown East Lafayette (or as the atlas says - Lafayette). I had the ultimate pleasure to stop in after an engineering seminar and not only watch a #1 ranked Purdue Basketball team play on the TV’s, but also get Indiana’s greatest sandwich - The Tenderloin. It was hand breaded and fried up fresh. The breading reminded me of the 11 herbs and spices and the loin was tender. It’s the kind of tenderloin one must stop and sample while picking up your college kid, or in town for the game, or a long walk from the dorm. We are waiting for the car to be displayed, and the kids will have walk a little longer down The Levee to get there, but everyone is happy that Jake’s is back in tippecanoe county.
