Dear Friends, Patrons, and the Kokomo Community,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce Kokomo Meat Market will permanently close its doors on Saturday, July 11th, 2026.
Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am deeply thankful for your loyalty, support, encouragement, and the memories we created together. Every customer who walked through our doors, every conversation we shared, and every meal we prepared became a meaningful part of our journey.
As a first-time small business owner, I gave everything I had to build something special for this community, something people could enjoy, remember, and something I could be proud of for a lifetime.
As many of you know, I balanced operating Kokomo Meat Market while also working a full-time job with significant responsibilities. Because of that, I wasn't always able to be physically present in the store as much as I wanted to be. Even so, I did my very best to lead the business by delegating work, assigning responsibilities, and making sure our team had the direction and support needed to serve our customers. I truly wish I could have been there every day, but I always worked to ensure the business continued moving forward, even when I couldn't be on-site.
Along the way, I made mistakes. I am human, and I know we were not perfect. If I ever disappointed anyone or fell short of expectations, I sincerely apologize and ask for your forgiveness. At the same time, if we were able to create a positive memory for you, share a great meal with your family, or bring something unique to Kokomo, I hope you will remember us in the years ahead.
From the beginning, our mission was simple: to prove that a small, locally owned business could compete by offering high-quality products, fair pricing, and a personal experience that large corporations cannot always provide.
We were fortunate to meet so many incredible customers, farmers, suppliers, and community members who shared those same values. We met people who take pride in their work, their products, and their communities. I truly hope each of them continues to find success and reaches even greater opportunities in the future.
Before we close this chapter, I want to say something important: we appreciate everyone who supported us. Whether you visited us once, became a regular customer, shared our posts, recommended us to friends, or simply gave us a chance, thank you.
Even to those who had concerns, disagreements, or left critical reviews, we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Feedback helped us learn and improve.
There was even a customer who came into our store almost every day, always telling us how much they enjoyed the food, but also continued to leave negative reviews. We want you to know there are no hard feelings. We truly appreciate your business, we appreciate the conversations we shared, and we wish you nothing but the best moving forward.
At the end of the day, we choose gratitude over resentment. Every person who walked through our doors became part of the Kokomo Meat Market story.
Questions or Concerns: Please contact us at [email protected] before our official closing date.
To everyone who chose to support a small local business instead of a large chain, thank you. You allowed us to be part of your family dinners, celebrations, cookouts, and everyday meals. That is something I will always carry with me.
I wish each and every one of you happiness, good health, and success in the future.
With my deepest gratitude,
Joseph
