*Warning, this will be long
The post I wasn't ready to write, the last OYE as a show mom has finished. Leaving the Grand Drive and the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds I reflected on how OYE built my girls into competent stockmen that are stewards of this agricultural lifestyle. I am forever grateful to everything we have learned over the years and specifically how the OYE level of competition and experience built us.
Market week was an emotional roller coaster for us, to say the least. The wether show did not go as planned. One of those life lessons from showing, regroup and roll on to the next one. Nothing is guaranteed.
On wether showmanship day Ella and Lil' Baby did outstanding. We are so proud of your 5th place finish in 12th grade showmanship. She then was back in the ring for AFR showmanship and qualified for an interview in the AFR livestock achievement contest. It was a wonderful end to Ella's show career with an extra special goat we raised by her side.
Rolling into scholarship presentations Ella was awarded 5th place in the Skillathon competition and 4th place overall in the AFR livestock achievement contest. We are so proud of you Ella.
There are so many special people and special animals we have been blessed with along this journey. I am eternally thankful for all of you. Most of all I am just infinitely proud of you Elisa Allen and Ella Allen. Being your showmom has been my honor.
