I once looked at a horse registered as Moldy Pumpernickel. I think I may have missed a name opportunity. So Annie has baby hair, winter hair, sunburned hair, I think dapples, and this roaning all going on. She looked gray when I clipped her, but right now I'm going with moldy pumpernickel as her color.

It must have rained heavy last night, my grass fell over. Meanwhile, our DOT repaved our road a few weeks ago. Awesome, right? No they came through yesterday and dumped a couple inches of stone right on top of the new blacktop. Anyone know who I can complain to about that? Right now I think it's just got to be everyone.

I've caused a ruckus today. Juliette colicked last night, because of course she did. My idea of just a little grass at a time was no match for her sensitive tummy.
So rather than move the fence around again, I just swapped horses around. Jen gets along with everyone, so I put her back in with Bella. Bella is mean, so they are scuffling.
And I figured I would try Juliette with the baby. Annie was the only foal this year, so she hadn't been out with any horse other than her mom yet. Right now she is randomly chasing Juliette for no reason, so that seems to be working.
But that meant putting a new mare where she could go nose to nose with the stallion. They have been fine in the past, but it's been a while, so he is puffing himself up and posturing and trying to impress her.
So I'm going to have a morning full of worry and squeals and yelling at bad ponies to behave. Wish me luck!

Annie is learning to come when called for liberty classes. That delicious grass is a little distracting, but she will figure it out.

That is one seriously bad haircut. The minis seem to grow crazy hair when they are younger, and I've just done a quick clip to keep Jen cool from time to time. It's getting cool overnight though, so she will soon have full winter woolies and won't look so silly.

It's generally considered a very bad idea to suddenly throw horses out on grass. People do it. But I am a worrier. And I care about my horses. So these girls are getting a slow re-introduction to grass. In the best way I could figure out how to do it, which is 10 feet at a time. I'm going to add one panel a day until their paddock is fully extended.

It's going to be stall mats in the run-in area! Fence post holes are getting dug, the sheep fence is coming out, and that grass looks thick and luscious now, but teeny tiny hooves and teeth will destroy that in no time flat.

Annie got a bath today. She just ties up and tolerates her bath like a pro. No beer for her though, she's underage.🤣

One of these mares is just hanging out and one of them is digging a hole to China because lovely second cutting hay doesn't meet her standards.
