We laid our sweet girl, Lucy, to rest yesterday. In many ways I’m grateful for how immeasurable this loss feels, it proves how deep our connection was. She was my heart.
Lucy was the very best farm dog. She was ingrained in every aspect of my daily routine, starting and ending every single day in the barn with me taking care of our critters. And she was with me countless hours in the flower field, hunting for moles and voles, digging too many holes. Lucy’s resting place is her favorite spot on the farm, the garden, where her spirit can haunt the pests.
If you feel so inclined, in lieu of sympathy comments, please share a favorite story or fav things your pups do (or did) that make you laugh, warm your heart. Lucy snored like a trucker and would look at you with adoring eyes and then burp like a human, both of which made me ridiculously happy.
Lucy loved and was so loved by so many people; as I scrolled through photos I found shot after shot of her resting her head on laps and shoulders, all snuggled up. I am so grateful for the last decade that she gave us. She will be deeply, greatly missed. Give your pups extra love today in her honor. ♥️
