Due to the historic flooding and the poor water quality we are pausing our harvesting.

We are waiting for the waters to subside and for water quality testing to be conducted.

“We never just work for today. We work for the generations to come.” – Lorraine Loomis, 2004

Lorraine Loomis was a lifelong advocate for Indigenous fishing rights and a respected Swinomish leader in salmon recovery. In this 2004 interview, she’s speaking about salmon fisheries, but her words offer a glimpse into the vision and values she carried into all her work, including as the main visionary behind Swinomish Shellfish Company.

Through all of our work at Swinomish Shellfish Company, we strive to honor Lorraine’s lasting legacy. Every harvest is rooted in her vision: caring for our waters, honoring our traditions, and ensuring economic stability for future generations. Thank you, Lorraine, for all the work you’ve done to make Swinomish Shellfish Company possible. 💙🦪

What makes a Swinomish oyster different? It’s the deep cups, formed by carefully hand-flipping every bag. It’s the briny, mineral-rich flavor, developed from Similk Bay’s unique waters. It’s the freshness of oysters that are never wet-stored, harvested right before sale. And it’s the care of a business that puts community, quality, and the environment first.

We don’t cut corners. The quality speaks for itself. Order Swinomish oysters today and taste the difference. 🦪🌊

Some oysters are just made for the grill. We like to combine gochujang paste, minced garlic, and butter on the stovetop, top our oysters generously, and flame-grill until bubbling and golden. This time, we finished with some fresh parsley and enjoyed with toasted sourdough. 🦪🔥

Hard to say which is better, the oysters or the view. But together, they're pretty unbeatable.

Just 13 miles from our farm, serves Swinomish oysters from a perch high above Samish Bay. We’re grateful to be featured at a restaurant that highlights what makes this region so special. Next time you’re on Chuckanut Drive, stop in and treat yourself. 🤩🦪

Every oyster we grow starts with the Earth — and we don’t take that for granted. Today and every day, we’re thankful for the land, the water, and the ecosystems that make our work possible. Happy Earth Day. 🌊🌍
