We made some additions to the farm early this spring with six very friendly chicks. The new girls have gotten big and started exploring outside the coop in July. They are very curious about the farmhouse.

The children are heartbroken to report that today, while free-ranging in our yard near their coop, two brown dogs came onto the property and attacked, killing 8 of their 12 chickens. Unfortunately, the four remaining ladies are very shaken and we will be unable to supply the stand with eggs for the foreseeable future. The girls were beloved pets, each with distinct personalities and enjoyed by the whole family. We are all saddened and sorry that we won’t have eggs for you. Thank you to our wonderful customers for your support and providing the kids with their first mini-business opportunity!

We love bloom! Well, while our hens do enjoy a vibrant flower, we really mean egg bloom, or the protective coating applied to an egg by the hen as it’s being laid. The bloom helps protect the egg and keeps it fresh longer.
