‼️UPDATE‼️

August and September were somewhat of crazy months for my family as we had yet another unexpected family emergency to tend to, so I apologize for the absence everyone. I am going to try to get everyone up to speed on things in the Program now.

✴️Jester✴️

This guy is a Rockstar and has become a solid horse in our program and we are so happy to have him! He is very popular among clients and he is loving all of the attention.

❇️Oakley❇️

I can't say enough about this little horse. He has quite the story, and unfortunately its still being told and figured out. He has so much heart and so much willingness in him, that no matter what, he just keeps going forward. I will explain more later, but he has been taking riders and is doing great. More to come on Mr. Oakley...in the meantime, watch him in action here...

🐎JESTERS TURN🐎

💫With all the updates on Oakley, we can't forget about our other new guy Jester! He is doing absolutely amazing! He arrived in April, but already had a very extensive resume and was well loved so his training has been pretty easy. Though he was mostly used to hitting the trails, getting used to arena work and working on the rail, along with learning pattern work has been our focus with him. Of course the arena work in addition to the tougher aspect of the job of therapy work, which takes a little longer to grasp, but he is doing well there as well.

💫He has actively been in the program with our more advanced independent riders since the end of May and has had a couple of therapy students, and continues to excel. Everyone really enjoys this guy, and those ice blue eyes catches everyone's attention in the barn!

⁉️Why Equine Assisted Therapy⁉️

This is something I get asked a lot. "What does it do for my child?" Or "What does it do for me?" Well the answer simply is, EVERYTHING! When you or your child get on one of our horses, its a full body and mind experience. The horse is calming, yet working your muscles and making you focus all at the same time. So the real question is, what DOESN'T it do for you or your child? 🥰

When we get these new horses in, I also get asked a lot how long it takes to train one to be ready to be a therapy horse. Well the answer is, it just depends on the horse. This job is tough, and it takes a special kind of horse to do it. I never rush them. I let them tell me when they are ready. 💙

I pride myself on having the safest horses in the industry. I have always taken in rescues, and pretty difficult horses in the past and made them into great horses for us. But it takes time and dedication. In the end though it is always worth it, because at the end of the day, this program is nothing without these horses. 🐴🐎🥰❤️

💫Improving!💫

Oakley continues to improve in his training and trust issues the more we work with him. McKenna had a ba****ck session with him the other day and once we worked through some small stubborn moments he did very well. 🐴

He has already shown us that parking at our big handicap block is not scary or an issue at all, neither is changing positions on his back. He is a very smart young horse, and we are learning a lot about him. He continues to enjoy all the attention from our clients in the barn on session days. 🥰

💫More LIBERTY work with Oakley! This time Liberty circles, and working on yielding. He is coming in behind McKenna, but he is still working out some trust issues from being passed around most of his short life. He is getting there though. I think he is thankful for us and we are thankful for him 🥰.

🐴He will take a little more time than we expected. But as most of you may remember or know, Teddy and even Picasso were not the easiest of horses when they arrived. Both with troubled pasts and experiences. But now, with some time, are two of our best horses.

💥Oakley and McKenna got to do a little bit of Liberty in the round pen today. McKenna has spent the last 30 days doing a lot of ground work with him, so his liberty work has gotten very good. It helps that they have a great connection!

💞Connection and relationship with horses is what we are about at Equility. Every person that comes through our program learns how to connect and build a relationship with the horse they work with. It is so important, not just for a successful ride, but for meaningful and useful skills outside of horseback riding. Liberty work is one of my favorite things to teach our students when we are able to!

🐴OAKLEY🐴

Our newest member of the Equility herd made it to the farm last night after rehabbing for 45 days at our dear friends over at Button Hill Farm ! They did an amazing job getting this guys weight back up and getting him healthy! We highly recommend them for anyone needing a horse to lay up for a bit on some good pasture, or even great pasture boarding with excellent care on a beautiful farm!

The boys kind of mobbed him when he came off the trailer but he took it well as you can see🤣. He is super laid back. We are very excited to continue his training and really get to working with him now that he is healthy! Stay tuned!

🐴WAY TO GO JESTER! After just a little over 60 days with us, he had his first official Equine Therapy Riding session this week. He has had several independent Therapeutic Riding Sessions where he has been ridden by our more advanced riders with capable Riding abilities.

💫But this week, after several weeks of simulations and training, he was able to take on an actual Equine Therapy ride and he did great! We look forward to this guy taking on more and more students, hes so special!
