That’s all, folks! We’re sold out. On this last day of the 2025 season, there were friendly people, delicious chestnuts, gorgeous skies and one other special treat: a visit by the grandson of the last private owners of the orchard. He grew up playing in the orchard and delighted us by answering our questions for over an hour. Notably, he and his brother were not allowed to climb or even touch the chestnut trees - same as you fine folks. Come up to the orchard next year and we’ll tell you what else we learned.

Saturday morning, Nov 8 update: Except for two trees, the crop is all on the ground now. This means people with the earliest reservation times will find nuts, the later timeslots will have to work harder and climb higher, and we definitely won't be allowing anyone back into the orchard after 12 o'clock without a reservation. Sunday is looking pretty challenging. Anyone who has a reservation this Saturday or Sunday and chooses not to come up and use it will be automatically refunded after the weekend. We always do our best to give you an accurate picture of what's going on at the orchard. It was simply an unusual year. We apologize on behalf of our misbehaving trees.

Wednesday, Nov 5 Update: Some of our fellow chestnut growers reported shorter seasons this year and it's looking like that is the case with Skyline Chestnuts as well. We estimate the crop will be enough to serve the reservations that were already made for this weekend. We will post updates as we see what is out on the orchard. So that Sunday's reservation-holders have a reasonable chance to find chestnuts, we do NOT plan to allow visitors who do not have reservations past the farmstand on Saturday.

It's Peak Week! Loads of chestnuts are waiting for you to come 'n' get 'em. The weather should be good, too. Why not bring some friends...or... bring bags of delicious chestnuts to your friends? We have bulk chestnuts pre-bagged at the counter. Reservations will be important this weekend...

See the coin at bottom left? That's a quarter! The chestnuts are very large this year. Today is a great day to leave work early to come up get some of these once-per-decade chestnuts. Can't play hookie from work? IF the parking lot is not too muddy after some light Saturday morning rain, we expect to open a lot more reservation spots for Sunday.

Update #4: We've opened MANY more reservation spots for Sunday, Oct 26. Call a friend. Come on up. Dress for dampness. Shoes should be good for walking on wet leaves. BUT THE CHESTNUTS ARE AWESOME RIGHT NOW, so it's worth it. Admission for those without a reservation begins at Noon and only happens if there are still chestnuts to gather.

Get ready! The 2025 Chestnut Season opens on Saturday, October 18. Reservations go live on Monday at 10am. We’ll post the link here and on our website. We’ll start with a few spots for Saturday and Sunday and add more as we see how many chestnuts are dropping. "C" for Chestnuts! Don't let the big, cloudy 'C' fool you; it's beautiful up here!

The 2025 season will open in mid- to late October. When the chestnuts look ready to start dropping, we'll post Opening Day information here and on our website. Please check back on October 1st.

Did you know... Chesnut trees are native to the East Coast of the United States, not the West Coast? And there were a LOT of them. The beautiful, now-prized chestnut wood was so common that it was used to make fences, crates, railroad ties and the *back* of furniture. This graphic shows both the original range of American Chestnuts and the spread of the blight that wiped out them out a century ago. Our old-growth orchard, planted around the time of California's gold rush, survived because it was isolated. We are one of a kind!
