Dear Friend, Customers, and Supporters,
With heavy hearts, we are sharing some difficult news. After five wonderful years, The Summers House will be closing our greenhouse operation and will no longer be selling our hydroponic lettuce and greens. For the past five years, it has been our privilege and joy to provide our community with amazing hydroponic lettuce, micro greens, kale, bok choi, basil, and many other fresh greens. We started The Summers House with a dream, and we feel incredibly blessed that we had the opportunity to pursue that dream, even if it was for a shorter time than we had hoped.
Unfortunately, the rising costs of utilities, supplies, insurance, and the many other expenses involved in operating a greenhouse have made it impossible for us to continue. This is not a decision we have made easily. Our hearts are truly broken to have to close an operation that we have poured so much love, time, and hard work into. There was something special about walking into the greenhouse, picking a beautiful head of lettuce, and knowing that we had grown it from seed. Watching those plants grow and knowing that they would make their way to your tables brought us so much happiness and pride.
Over these five years, we have been blessed to meet so many wonderful people. It has been an incredible privilege to serve our local schools, restaurants, stores, and individual customers. Every order, every kind word, and every person who supported our little greenhouse meant more to us than you may ever know. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who believed in us, purchased our greens, shared our story, encouraged us, and allowed us to be part of your lives and businesses. You helped make our dream a reality.
While this chapter of The Summers House is coming to an end, we will always be grateful for the memories, friendship, and experiences these five years have given us.
