Got a little too excited about milling all that clear vertical grain fir and forgot to stop when we filled a maxi truckload. Had to bring in my flatbed truck to get it all shipped to the customer. 77,700 pounds of perfection!

New record for us at the mill yesterday. 24” of pure, clear vertical grain. This isn’t a board cut through the middle of a log — it’s what’s been very specifically milled from one quarter of a 55”+ Douglas-fir after all the non-VG wood was removed. Lumber like this is exceptionally rare and so satisfying to produce!

Normally by the time the self loader gets called out to fire, the smoke is gone and we’re in cleanup mode. Not this year...
