What’s your best guess - when will we be able to get back to the farm?

Snow & ice blanketed the area last Sunday and unusually cold temps haven’t been above freezing since. We’ve got nearly a mile of gravel, ice-covered road, with several hills that provide great opportunities to slide into creeks. It’s pretty but treacherous!

Check out these coyotes from the past two early mornings - they seem to be very active right now! They love to use our trails. Notice in the 2nd clip how they walk past the camera L to R, and shortly afterward, one comes back carrying something in his mouth (timestamp is in the lower right).

More “fun” with yellow jackets today! I hit a nest while grading out a few ruts in an old farm road. If you’ve ever been stung by one before, you will remember; it burns like crazy from even a single sting. Thank God for air conditioning on the excavator so I could close myself in!

When we first walked this place in 2022, it was so overgrown we had to carry loppers to cut our way through! Yesterday was a milestone: I drove my car through the woods all the way down to a creek that bisects the property, mostly using old logging roads that we’ve cleaned up.
