What we are…✅
👉A year round market that sells in-season produce and food products from only hyper-local farms and small businesses.
👉A community minded business with a goal to keep money in our local community by supporting other local businesses.
👉A spot for you to learn about in-season produce and integral skills to be more of a self-sufficient community member
👉A pick up location for local farms direct sales and CSA’s along with an event sharing platform for community events.

What we are NOT…❌
👉We are not a consignment shop. We buy from the local small businesses at a slightly reduced rate and sell their products for what they would charge you! Our focus is food.
👉We are not a grocery store that sells produce year round from all over the world. We only sell produce grown right here in southern Maryland, grown by the farmer that brings it to us. We will not have pineapples, avocados, mangos, soursop, ect.
👉We are not a flea market where you can negotiate prices. Our margins are extremely thin. Produce and food items are priced accordingly and we can’t budge from that.

I don’t know about you, but I like to be clean when I get out of the shower!🚿 🧼🔥
👉We started making our soaps about 8 years ago because we wanted to use all-natural soaps, but didn’t like the residue left on our skin after we used them!

👉Every different oil and fat soap makers use in the soap making process have different qualities. Some are moisturizing and some aren’t.
🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥
👉Some soap makers superfat their soaps. This means they use more fats or oils than is necessary to make soap. This leaves some oils and fats not saponified into soap… leaving them to be on your skin after showering.
👉Give our soaps a try if you like getting clean in the shower!!

👉Using a cattle panel arch for a trellis saves a ton of space, allows you to get the plants off the ground, easier harvesting, and provides a space underneath to grow low growing crops!

What are we trellising in our front yard??

👉These crops are designed to trellis! It’s almost like they want to grow up a surface!! Their tendrils will grab on to anything that is rigid as the plant grows toward the sun!!🌞
👉Growing up a cattle panel arch trellis allows you to..
🍉grow another crop in the underneath!
🥒harvest easier because you don’t have to bend over as much
🍉have a healthier crop because pests have a difficult time reaching the fruit.
🥒use less land because they are not spreading out on the ground as much!

We are always looking for ways to make our nutrient-dense foods more available, so we are excited to announce our new drop-off location at Rootbound Farms www.rootboundfarms.com in La Plata! They have a cool new store, featuring their excellent line of soaps and other skin care products, local produce and meats - as well as our award-winning raw milk cheeses!

Here is how the drop-off service works: pick a drop-off location near you by going to www.farmmatch.com/pabowenfarmstead; place an order for that location by selecting the products you would like, complete your purchase with a credit card, then pick up your order at the location on the date/time specified. It's that easy!

We offer this service every two weeks to the following locations:

California
La Plata
Upper Marlboro
