Enjoy 30 seconds of a happy goat trimming the mess a broken lawnmower left unmowed lol 😂 At this point I am not mowing it, the goats are thriving and it’s free food.
But the few minutes I spent outside with Marilla earlier had me thinking. Do goats know how much we love them? Does Marilla know she is my heart goat? Does she know anything beyond that I’m a human that feeds and milks her?
I attribute feeling and attachment to these animals that in reality I’m not sure they experience back at the same level I do, but I 100% think they get attached to their humans. I have seen it when I hand off goats to people to help lead at shows, and the goats scream for me. I see it when Verity comes flying across the field and then becomes like Velcro. I see it when Gracie spends her days by my neighbor’s gate who she’s attached to, or when Marilla follows me quietly around the field. I felt it when I was told I had to sell my herd by the county, and I spent half one night in the barn with the girls surrounding and consoling me.
Is it the same as we feel for them? Maybe not, but it’s still significant, meaningful and deep. I love my goats so very much, and in their own way, I think they return the sentiment 🫶🏻
