Well, you know what they say about best laid plans, right? Well this season I wanted to be done in 6 weeks… that has gone out the window already so when this little lady came into heat this morning, I couldn’t help myself. She is arguably the most promising junior I retained this spring, and I truly can’t wait for her to freshen. So I paired her with Brave this morning for early April kids. There are all kinds of amazing udders, champions and high appraising does behind this pairing, I can’t wait to see what they give me!

A couple days ago, Drovers Croft WindntheWillows 5*M GEVG85 (@2-06) returned to my herd. Willow is Tiger Lily’s littermate, and 21stofSeptember’s full sister. I am so happy to have her home, more than I expected! She is settling in well and though she has been gone for almost exactly a year, the herd must remember her a bit, as she seems to remember as well. No big fights, just some bristled up hair. It has been a blessing to watch! Willow is carrying what we believe is twins, sired by Dwarf Lunacy Carpo. Carpo spent a short time here this spring as a kid and I became quite enamored with him. His dam is his breeder’s all-around herd favorite doe, Dwarf Lunacy Kalyke VEEE90 1*M Elite. I am very excited to see these kids! They will be among the first few born in January, 2024.

Hey folks!!

Below, please find the updated Breeding Schedule for 2023/2024. Most of the pregnancies have been confirmed, but not all. I will adjust as needed. Please, only ask to be placed on the Waitlist if you are serious about purchasing a kid!

Updated 2023-24 Sales Policy:

If you want to be placed on a waitlist for a certain breeding, please let me know. Listed prices are subject to change once kids are on the ground, so if you wish to lock in these prices, now would be the time to get your name in 😉

If you are on my waitlist, once the kids are born, assessed, and I have chosen any retained animals, I will go down the waitlist and notify people in order. This usually occurs within the first two weeks after the kids are born. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold/reserve an available kid or adult. Deposit must be received within 24 hours of your chosen animal, or I go to the next name on the list, no exceptions. At this time, we accept cash, PayPal, or check if received one week prior to pickup. Any reserved kid or adult must be paid in FULL by the time of pickup. If the animal is still not paid for by the agreed pickup date, any previous payments will be forfeited and will NOT be refunded. There are no exceptions to this rule.

At this time, all kids are bottle raised, as well as started on coccidia preventative. Kids are generally available for pickup by 3-4 weeks of age, at my discretion. All animals must be picked up by the date arranged, and failure to pickup by said agreed upon date will result in forfeiture of the sale and any deposited monies.

We generally prefer to sell kids as pairs, unless you own similar aged kids already. We will absolutely NOT sell only one goat unless you have other goats. Goats are herd animals and CANNOT live alone.

At this time, we do not generally offer bucklings for sale as breeding animals. All bucklings are usually sold as unregistered wethers-to-be. It is my expectation that the buyer will have the buckling wethered no sooner than 12 weeks of age, and any fees associated with wethering will be incurred by the buyer. The buyer is welcome to bring their buckling back to me for wethering at no charge if they wish.

All kids will be disbudded and any registered kids will be tattooed prior to sale. Your new goat will come with either a signed registration paper for transfer, a registration form for submission to ADGA, or I will work with you to register and transfer your kid online. Buyer is responsible for all transfer fees.

At this time, we are no longer vaccinating against CD & T. Please make arrangements to vaccinate your kids at your discretion once they arrive home.

Drovers Croft reserves the right to cancel any reservation at any time, and a full refund would be returned to buyer. If deposit has been received, we could move it to another animal, or refund would be returned to buyer. This also applies if the kid of your choice is not available. If the buyer backs out of sale, deposit will NOT be refunded. Drovers Croft reserves the right to give preference to active ADGA Plus performance herds for all sales.

**While I have no expectation that an animal will go over height, I do not guarantee height of your animal **

All sales are final. In the event the buyer chooses to sell a Drovers Croft goat in the future, we request first right of refusal. Buyer is responsible for any vet exams/health certificates, all shipping costs, and cost of crate. We guarantee our goats to be healthy upon leaving our farm. Whole herd Negative CAE test 5/2023 per WADDL lab.

These pretty girls are either at or past 21 days post breeding and I’m feeling a big sigh of relief. After these two, I am just waiting on Lexie. I’m freshening just 10 does in the spring, and will be posting that list shortly. The majority have been bred to Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand, and I have 4 other bucks covering the others. Yes, four 😳🤣. I’m excited, as always, to see the kids from all these litters, starting in mid-January. I have a much clearer picture of where my herd is headed these days, and I’m happy for that!

This one is a fun cross for me. Roisin was Mystery’s only date this fall, but I think they will compliment each other well. Mystery has been adding strength to his progeny, which I feel Roisin could use a bit more of. I am excited to see what they give me… Mystery sires *almost* all does, hopefully he doesn’t change that with this pairing 🤣

We are at 25 days post breeding so I’ll finally share who Lily is bred to 🙂 This has been in the works since springtime, and I am seriously so ecstatic! Many, many thanks to my friend Maria Fallon for letting me set up dates with her handsome boy, Springwater PPT Goldcot Apricot for my girl 🥰 Jimmy, as he is known, has so many exceptional female relatives, I am hopeful I will get a nice litter from this pair. This is my personal most anticipated kidding of next year, and I’m wishing for buck/doe twins from this breeding. We shall see, Lily has only produced does so far.

Pretty little Dancer, aka Drovers Croft DancnNthMoonlite, is on day 23 past her breeding to Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand. Dancer was a surprise keeper for me… though I loved her from birth, she wasn’t on my planned list to stay here. But despite numerous attempts to find her a new home, she kept getting passed up. I am actually glad because she turned into a lovely young doe who I am excited to freshen this coming spring. I am hoping to nail down a beautiful, well attached mammary system with this pairing, as well as good rump width. I think these two should compliment each other well.

My beautiful Lily is 22 days past her breeding and I am on pins and needles watching for a heat cycle. So far, nothing! She is hopefully carrying a very special litter for my little farm, and for once, I’m hoping for a little boy in the batch 😍 poor girl has me stalking her every move at this point 🤣🤣

This morning, Drovers Croft DM Marilla AGGA79 (@1-05) was bred by Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand. Marilla is an immature doe who really didn’t get a chance to show me what she can produce this year after she had a single doeling via c-section. I am excited to see her freshen again, and hopefully give me a girl or two from Magic. Magic is getting the lions share of the work this year, and he is happy about that 🤣 lots of high scoring does behind these two!

The second breeding that happened yesterday was between these two juniors. Dancer was paired with Magic to help improve rump width, mammary structure and production. Dancer is an exceptionally elegant young doe who I am very glad never found a new home… and I’m hoping the pairing with Magic will bring what I’m aiming for in her offspring.

Winning Streak EB Roisin VVGV85 (@1-09) was bred yesterday to Buttin’Heads Dark Mystery. I am hoping to add some strength and width to her offspring. Roisin is an incredibly long, but small doe with a buttery soft, easy to milk and productive mammary system. Beyond that, she is so very sweet and holds a special place in my heart for her personality - I truly love this little doe! First doeling will be retained.

Today is 21 days since Dwarf Lunacy NF Jasmin 4*M VEEE90 was bred to Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand *B. I’m still waiting for a few more days to feel sure but so far, no signs she is coming into heat. If successful, this will be Magic’s first set of kids, and Minnie’s last. I was going to retire her after this past spring, but the thought of one last litter sired by Magic was too much to resist 🤣 I am hoping Magic can add production, better teat placement and medial, as well as rump width to his progeny from Minnie. This is my second most anticipated litter for 2024, and I am absolutely giddy! First doeling retained.

This incredible doe scored the second ever EEEE95 awarded on her Linear Appraisal yesterday! She is an absolutely exceptional dairy goat!!

SGCH Sartyr Gandalf Titania - 6-04 EX 95 EEEE !!!

Wow, just wow. Got news today from ADGA that Titania is now the second goat ever to have scored a 95.

What a year for Titania. She finally settled late last December and was one of the last does to kid in May this year with a beautiful, single doe kid. Some of us were not sure if she would be ready for the trip to Nationals, but her will to milk and persistence in the parlor got her into show shape quickly.

It was a magical day at the ADGA Nationals when Titania won! She followed that up with a Best Doe in Show at the prestigious Sonoma County Fair-a feat attempted, but rarely accomplished by many National Champions over the years.

Titania is 6 years old and has milked over 23,000 lbs of milk. Even with her tremendous size and years of hard working production, she stills glides around the barn and show ring. Showing the right balance of substance and strength to go along with her dairiness. Also her tremendous structural correctness in general appearance.

Definitely the type of goat that functions efficiently over a long productive lifetime. Congratulations to her breeder who had his own productive lifetime dedicated to goats. All of us who have had the joy to work with Titania are extremely proud.

I’m actually obsessed with this baby. She is so very similar to her dam Dwarf Lunacy NF Jasmin who was just appraised VEEE90 as an almost six year old doe, as well as her full sister, Drovers Croft Tiger Lily who is my favorite. Lily appraised VVEV88 as a 2 year old 2F this year. I expect to be able to breed Lexie this fall and she will be paired with Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand.

Even though I took Gracie off the breeding schedule this year, I couldn’t resist repeating this breeding when she started flagging her tail this morning 🫣. I did this match in 2021 and her 2022 doeling is the first of two kids I have ever regretted selling. Kids will be due January 25, 2023, first doe retained.

Sunny Daze SM Sleight of Hand got his very first date this morning and handled the job like a pro! I had planned to retire Minnie but she’s in great shape so I decided to give her one more pregnancy. She will hopefully be carrying Magic’s first litter of kids and I am super excited about that! The strong udders behind this pairing really are exceptional with numerous E Udders, 90+ appraising does, Champions and Elite production. Kids due 1/20/2024 if she takes.

Drovers Croft R Bellini

Despite the fact that she isn’t a fan of clipping 🤭, I knew as soon as she popped off the stand that she had matured even nicer than she was looking earlier this summer… and I had a feeling she was going to shine at appraisal more than previously expected. What I didn’t expect was that she would be my top scoring yearling FF, earning an impressive GVVV86. Though there are certainly things I would change on this doe, she has earned a second freshening here.

I have a small homestead here but the goats have about 2 acres to graze on. We have had quite a bit of rain this summmer and the grass is out of control 🤦‍♀️. I normally mow it but it’s been a busy few weeks. Since appraisal and shows are now behind me, I told the girls they need to earn their keep and start mowing the grass for me instead of eating the winter supply of hay. They haven’t been keen on my idea but are learning that grass does indeed fill their bellies 😅🤣. They would prefer I fill the hay racks but I’m holding firm except a flake or two at night. Lo and behold, the herd can be seen out grazing during the day now 😉🤔🤣.

I have to say, for my small and fairly young herd, I’m feeling pretty proud. I had 9 does appraised. 5 are in my herdname, 3 are in my best friend’s herdname and just 1 from an outside herd. I have 1 E udder and 6 V’s, with RUH scores from 31-40, most being in the middle of that range. While I do have things I want to improve in my herd, I feel like we are moving in the right direction, I am excited to continue on this journey 😍

My beautiful Minnie, aka Dwarf Lunacy NF Jasmin 4*M VEEE90, is 6 years old today!! This girl came to me as a yearling from my best friend Lisa Shook-Briggs who is her breeder, and I have loved her since. Easygoing, gentle, sweet, she is my herd Queen, as well as what I consider my foundation doe. I currently have three daughters (including my herd favorite Drovers Croft Tiger Lily VVEV88), one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, and three granddaughters of her littermate sister in my herd 🤣. Minnie’s dam is the incredible Wooly Dog Down FX Hibiscus 3*M VEEE90 Elite doe (multiple times) and Minnie’s littermate is GCH Dwarf Lunacy NF Juniper VEEE90. Minnie’s paternal sister, Wooly Dog Down NF Juneau, just earned the final leg towards her permanent Championship title as well. This family of does keeps proving themselves over and over! Minnie will be getting extra treats today to celebrate 🎉

Today was our second Linear Appraisal! All I can say is wow! I am so excited to have been able to participate in this program again this year! It truly is invaluable and I feel like I learned a lot. I asked way more questions this year than last and our appraiser was wonderful and patient in answering them for me. I have so much more to learn but I am thrilled with how today went! So without any further ado, here are the scores for my young herd 🙂

Dwarf Lunacy NF Jasmin 4*M, 5 year old 5th freshener (she’s almost 6 😅) scored VEEE90, with a RUH of 40, RUA of 37 and Body Depth score of 40. She scored V’s in Head, Rear legs, Feet and Back.

Drovers Croft MS Amazing Grace, 3 YO 2F scored GEVV86. She scored 33 in Dairyness, 36 Fore Udder Attachment, 36 RUH, 34 RUA, E in rear legs and V in back.

Dwarf Lunacy Winona, 2YO 2F, scored GGEV84. Winona received 33 in Fore Udder Attachment, 32 RUH, 37 RUA, as well as V’s in Head, Front Legs, Feet and Back.

Drovers Croft Tiger Lily, 2YO 2F, scored VVEV88. Lily scored 35 in RUH, 33 in RUA, and V’s in Shoulders, Rear Legs, Feet and Back.

Dwarf Lunacy Caramel Espresso 6*M, 2YO 2F, scored GVVV83. Cara scored 36 in Dairyness, 37 in RUH, and V’s in Rear Legs, Back and Rump. The appraiser commented that Cara was very immature still, but looked like a lovely young mini-Alpine and was very positive overall about her!

Winning Streak EB Roisin, yearling FF, scored VVGV85. Roshy scored 34 in ForeUdder, 31 in RUH, 30 in Dairyness and V’s in Shoulder Assembly, Front legs, Rear legs, and Back.

Drovers Croft R Bellini, yearling FF, scored a lovely GVVV86. She scored 32 in Dairyness, 33 in RUH and RUA, 24 in Rump Width and got a V in Rear Legs.

Drovers Croft R Tinkerbell, yearling FF, scored AVVG77. Tink had my widest rump in the herd at 26, and had an RUH of 36. She got V’s in Feet and Back.

Drovers Croft DM Marilla, yearling FF, scored AGGA79. Marilla had a 32 in Dairyness and 36 in RUH. She received a V in Back and E in Rump (only one in my herd!)

I am extremely proud of my girls and value the information I received today about their conformation. I have to say thank to the breeders of Minnie, Cara and Winona (Lisa Shook-Briggs) and also Roisin (Winning Streak Nigerians)! I am extremely grateful to Tamara C Toomey-Miller for hosting our appraisal today, as well as Nichole Everson for leading my girls while I watched!

Our Story

We established our herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats on our farm located in Southern Maryland in 2017. We strive to produce excellent quality, correct goats, whether for breeding stock, milk, pets, or lawn mowers and w**d eaters! We maintain a CAE-negative tested herd and our does are now on Milk Test.

We love to use our farm-fresh raw goat milk not only in our household, but also in our luxury handmade soaps, available at www.BarclaySoapCo.com.

We also have one horse, a small flock of Babydoll Sheep and chickens that complete our homestead.

Give a warm welcome to the newest kids on the block! Raya and Max!
First of all, they're not a fan of dogs (yet), hence the on guard postures lol.
Secondly, Raya is bringing in some new genetics to our herd and I'm excited to see how things improve here on my does' udder textures, teat size, and their length of body. Not too mention, she's a chocolate chamoisee!
Max is her companion buddy to make her transition to our herd easier. 🥰
Lastly, I need to thank Barclay at Drovers Croft for hooking me up with such a fantastic little doe! And for getting her started off on the right hoof.
Our newest herd sire is settling in after his trip home from Drovers Croft in MD. Very excited to watch this young man grow.
