Today we said goodbye to one of the loudest legends on the ranch — SP Sosumi, the matriarch of my ewe herd and the proud owner of a voice that could carry clear across La Plata on a windy day. She was 12 years old, and I suspect she took one look at the calendar, saw another winter coming, and said, “Nope. I’ve done my time.”
Sosumi wasn’t just loud; she was important. She raised some truly outstanding sheep over the years — Heidi Caetano’s SP Napoleon, SP Star Witness, SP Otta Be A Law, and her 2026 ewe lamb SP Miss Demeanor (Demi). Her influence is woven through this flock, and it will stay here for years to come.
She was opinionated, bossy, hilarious, and absolutely unforgettable. The pasture feels quieter today, and I never thought I’d miss that voice… but I do.
Goodbye, Sosumi. You were one of a kind, and I hope wherever you are, someone is bringing you hay fast enough to meet your standards.

Little Miss Oakley found a pet home yesterday. I was hoping that I could find that for her and God provided her with a new family. Don't worry she is not alone; she has sheep companionship.

⭐ Lamb Spotlight: SP Mint Julep
Born May 2, 2026 • California Red Sheep • Ram Lamb • Single Birth

Mint Julep arrived on Kentucky Derby Day, and he’s been living up to that name ever since — bold, eye‑catching, and full of promise. He’s the son of SP Jamaican A Splash and the Tunis ram Roadrunner Pursuit of Justice, and that combination shows in his balance, color, and quick growth.

Even at a young age, Mint Julep stands out. He’s a striking California Red ram lamb with strong lines, bright expression, and the kind of early development that makes you take notice. His rapid growth gives a clear peek into his future herd‑sire potential — he’s built right, growing right, and carrying himself with confidence.

As the last lamb of the season, he wrapped things up on a high note. Mint Julep is one to watch.

⭐ Lamb Spotlight: Enchantment Halo Sunshine (“Sunshine”)
Born April 22, 2026 • Purebred Barbados Blackbelly • Twin

Sunshine is the bigger, darker, and more dramatic half of this twin set — a purebred Barbados Blackbelly ewe lamb who shows off the breed’s elegance with every step. She’s the daughter of Enchantment Jamaican Bacon and Enchantment Angel Dust, and she carries their influence with striking consistency.

Where her sister Halo Dolly leans refined and bright, Sunshine brings a bold, sculpted look. Her neck and head set are exquisite — long, clean, and beautifully balanced — giving her that classic Blackbelly silhouette that turns heads instantly. Her markings are deep and rich, and she carries herself with a confident, athletic presence.

Sunshine is one of those lambs who looks like she was designed with intention. She’s expressive, alert, and already showing the kind of structure that makes Barbados Blackbelly ewes so distinctive.

⭐ Lamb Spotlight: Enchantment Halo Dolly (“Halo Dolly”)
Born April 22, 2026 • Purebred Barbados Blackbelly • Twin

Halo Dolly is one of this year’s purebred Barbados Blackbelly gems. She’s the daughter of Enchantment Jamaican Bacon and Enchantment Angel Dust, and she carries their influence beautifully — refined, alert, athletic, and unmistakably Blackbelly from every angle.

She has that classic breed expression: bright eyes, clean lines, sharp markings, and a confident stance that makes her look like she’s always ready to step forward and be noticed. Halo Dolly is the kind of ewe lamb who shows off the strengths of her pedigree without even trying.

As one half of a twin set, she’s grown into her own personality — curious, observant, and full of that lively spark Barbados Blackbelly lambs are known for. Watching her develop has been a highlight of the season.

⭐ Lamb Spotlight: Roadrunner Law Suit (“Lawney”)
Born April 20, 2026 • Purebred Tunis • Single Birth

Lawney is the kind of Tunis ram lamb who immediately catches your eye. He’s the son of Roadrunner Pursuit of Justice and Roadrunner Fancy Dresser, and he lives up to both names — refined, balanced, and undeniably fancy.

He has that classic Tunis look: rich coloring, strong structure, and a bright, expressive face that makes him stand out in every photo. Even at a young age, he carries himself with the confidence and presence you expect from a well‑bred Tunis ram lamb.

Lawney is growing beautifully and has already become one of the most striking youngsters of the season. He’s all style, all quality, and all Tunis.
