This right here is why we love farm life. 💛

Well well WELL… apparently our Finn ram Sterling was a very busy boy during his little conjugal escape 😅🐏

Because this morning we woke up to number FOUR…
Ewenice, our East Friesian ewe, surprised us with a handsome ram lamb!

Everyone meet Virgil 💙
Mama did an amazing job—he was already up, standing, dry, and nursing like a pro when we found him.

Welcome to the world, little man. Lamb math is wild around here 😂🐑

Apparently today is the day for lambs around here! 🐑✨

While I was out with Sunny this morning, I had that gut feeling that her mama, Dolores, was going to lamb within 24 hours… and sure enough, she proved me right. Around 5 PM, Dolores got to work and delivered an absolutely beautiful ram lamb.

I’ll grab better photos in the morning once he’s dry and fluffy, but for now—help us welcome Vegas to the flock! 🎰💙

Vegas is half Gulf Coast Native and half Finn sheep, and here’s the funny part: he’s Sunny’s half brother AND the half brother to Sunny’s lambs that were also born this morning. Yep… it’s a family reunion kind of day. 😂🐑

Farm life keeps things interesting, that’s for sure!

This morning, as I sat quietly snuggling and admiring Sunny’s brand-new babies, my heart was full. Watching her gently nuzzle them and stand so calmly as a mother took me right back to the day she was born—and I realized I had never shared Sunny’s story here on the farm page. 💛

More lambs! Meet Sunny (left) and Spot (right).

I happened to look out the window and saw Spot already on the ground, so I went out to check on things. That’s when I realized Sunny had been born still inside her amniotic sac. Mama was completely focused on Spot, and Sunny lay there unnoticed.

I ran.

When I reached her, the sac and afterbirth were cold to the touch, and my heart sank. I was so afraid I was already too late. I quickly cleared her airways and gave her a few rescue breaths.
(FYI… sheep birth fluid is never a good taste—especially before coffee 😒—but you do what you have to do.)

Slowly… she came back to us. 💛

Both lambs did great after that—full bellies, up on their feet, lively and strong.

And now here she is.
Sunny has grown into a gorgeous, full-grown ewe—healthy, happy, and clearly thriving. Watching her today, so calm and confident with her own babies at her side, feels like such a full-circle moment. From a cold, silent beginning to a strong, loving mama… she has always lived up to her name. 🌞🐑

Farm life is messy, emotional, and beautiful—and some mornings remind you exactly why it’s all worth it.

First lambs of 2026 are here! 🐑✨
And yes—names start with V this year! Please help us welcome Valka (girl) on the left and Vår (boy) on the right. 💕

These sweethearts are the result of Sterling, our Finn ram, deciding to let himself in with the ewes 😅—which means they’re quite the special mix.
Their mama, Sunny, is ½ Gulf Coast Native (meat/wool) and ½ Lacaune (dairy).

That makes these babies:
• ½ Finn (wool)
• ¼ Gulf Coast Native
• ¼ Lacaune

A beautiful triple-purpose combo—wool, milk potential, and meat—all wrapped up in two very cute packages. We’re excited to watch these two grow! 🖤🤍🐏🐑

Life is busy in the very best way 🤍

We’re wrapping up breeding season, which means that March–May will bring lots of baby lambs and kids—one of the sweetest, busiest times of the year around here 🐑🐐

December was full of holidays, celebrations, and birthdays, and now as we ease into January my focus is shifting. I’m dreaming and planning this year’s gardens—pouring over seed catalogs, starting seeds, and getting garden plots ready for what’s to come 🌱

We’re also soaking up the slower rhythm of winter by riding and driving the horses and donkey, heading out on quiet adventures into the wilds around us ❄️🐴

I love spring for the explosion of new life it brings, but there’s something special about this season too—the world resting, dormant and peaceful, gathering itself before it bursts back into life and song ✨

The Dream That Waited Two Years

Some animals leave hoofprints on your heart forever.

I bought Babbs in 2019. She was one of two foundation does for my Alpine herd, but she was so much more than that. Babbs was my buddy — friendly, funny, and just an all-around incredible goat. She had a way of being with you, not just near you.

On 12/20/2022, I had a dream about her. I wrote it down in my journal and then, like so many things, forgot about it. In the dream, Babbs had a large doeling — mostly black, with a half white belt on her left side.

In 2024, Babbs passed away suddenly from a septic infection. She was fine… and then she wasn’t. In less than 10 hours, she was gone. The kind of loss that still takes your breath away.

Her last daughter, born in 2024, is Sassafras (aka Sassy).

Earlier this week, while journaling, I reread that dream — and it stopped me in my tracks. I had dreamed of Sassy two years before she was born. Mostly black. That white belt. My heart just knew.

I don’t know how to explain things like that, but I do believe some souls are connected in ways we don’t fully understand. Babbs lives on through Sassy — and through every quiet moment I still think of her.

Miss you always, old friend. 💔🤍

The dogs have to sit to get a treat…
Apparently the cats were paying VERY close attention 👀😂

Sitting = treats, so now they sit.
Dumpster kitties are smart… too smart most days.

One of my favorite things about goats is how strong their family ties are. ❤️

Often, I’ll find them laying together in little family groups. In this picture, we have Rota — the matriarch — with her daughters Siggi and Tequila, and her grandson Taziki snuggled in close.

Because I keep more girls than boys, their bonds feel especially maternal in my herd. Mothers and daughters stay close, even as the years go by. I’ve seen moms stand protectively over their daughters during kidding, sometimes even helping clean up their grandkids while showering love on their daughters as they become new mothers themselves.

What amazes me is that this connection doesn’t fade with time. A mother goat may still support her daughter when she’s well into her own teens, with her daughters raising families of their own. The love and loyalty in these little herds run deep, and it’s a beautiful reminder of how family — in all its generations — stays with us. 💕

And last but certainly not least of our June babies… meet Mr. Tex! 🤠🐐

Just one day after little Tequila made her debut, our lovely Selene gifted us with this handsome fella. With 1/4 Oberhasli and 3/4 Alpine in his blood, Mr. Tex proudly wears his Alpine heritage — just look at that coloring! 🌄

Tex may be the baby of the bunch, but he’s already full of charm, bounce, and a touch of mischief. And the best part? He and Tequila have become inseparable. Whether they’re racing around the pasture, sunbathing side by side, or curled up for a nap, these two are pure joy to watch.

There’s truly nothing cuter than baby goats at play — and Tex and Tequila are bringing the smiles in full force. 💕

Welcome to the herd, Mr. Tex — we think you’re Texas-sized adorable. 🐐💫

Let’s rewind a little to a special day in June… 🎉

Our beautiful doe Rota decided to add to the celebration on Willa’s and Ashley’s shared birthday by giving us a perfect little gift — a baby girl! 💝🐐

Since Ashley and her family were visiting for the occasion, she got the honor of naming this birthday buddy. So everyone, meet Tequila! 🍹✨

Tequila is a gorgeous mix — 1/4 Oberhasli, 1/4 Angora, and 1/2 Alpine — but you’d never guess it by looking at her. With those striking red bay markings, she’s the spitting image of her Ober roots. Those genetics don’t mess around!

She’s already strutting her stuff around the barn like she knows she’s something special — and honestly, she is.

Happy birthday, Ashley and Willa… and welcome to the world, sweet Tequila! 🐐💕
