This morning, as I sat quietly snuggling and admiring Sunny’s brand-new babies, my heart was full. Watching her gently nuzzle them and stand so calmly as a mother took me right back to the day she was born—and I realized I had never shared Sunny’s story here on the farm page. 💛

More lambs! Meet Sunny (left) and Spot (right).
I happened to look out the window and saw Spot already on the ground, so I went out to check on things. That’s when I realized Sunny had been born still inside her amniotic sac. Mama was completely focused on Spot, and Sunny lay there unnoticed.
I ran.
When I reached her, the sac and afterbirth were cold to the touch, and my heart sank. I was so afraid I was already too late. I quickly cleared her airways and gave her a few rescue breaths.
(FYI… sheep birth fluid is never a good taste—especially before coffee 😒—but you do what you have to do.)
Slowly… she came back to us. 💛
Both lambs did great after that—full bellies, up on their feet, lively and strong.
And now here she is.
Sunny has grown into a gorgeous, full-grown ewe—healthy, happy, and clearly thriving. Watching her today, so calm and confident with her own babies at her side, feels like such a full-circle moment. From a cold, silent beginning to a strong, loving mama… she has always lived up to her name. 🌞🐑
Farm life is messy, emotional, and beautiful—and some mornings remind you exactly why it’s all worth it.
