Have you ever wondered how we started making pico de gallo?
Our owner, Sheila, worked in the produce department of a grocery store and noticed that she was constantly throwing away the pico de gallo her team made every morning. So, she asked her manager if she could try something new. Sheila started making the pico de gallo and setting out samples so customers would know it wasn’t the same pico as before. It was a huge success. She would make 13 containers one morning, and the next morning, all the containers were gone.
After being promoted to another department in the store, Sheila’s produce customers sought her out, asking for more of her pico de gallo. Management asked her to share the recipe, but she couldn’t. When asked why she couldn’t, Sheila says, “I didn’t have a recipe. The Lord just showed me how to make it. I don’t measure anything.”
Not long after leaving her grocery store job, God gave her the idea to start making it and selling it to people. This eventually led to setting up stands at markets, and those stands would sell out everywhere. When asked what she credits her success to, Sheila says, “I give all the glory to God because it is His recipe. To be honest, I had never made this in my life.”
Sheila didn’t want people to forget Who gets the glory either. On each label, the scripture verse, Matthew 19:24, is written. With God, all things are possible. 🌶️
