💙Let’s talk about bucks! 💙
If you have ever visited the farm or talked to me about bucks you probably already know how important it is to me to be able to handle ALL our animals, but especially our boys -by myself when my husband is not home. I am the primary caregiver of the farm. We take great care to raise our boys out to ensure they not only trust us but we can be safe and secure when handling them in any situation.
Criminal is in rut and currently has girlfriends (two of which he has been actively breeding in the past 48 hours). His crayon ran out on his marking harness. I was able to go in, approach him easily, take off his harness, leave, change the crayon, return, put his harness back on by myself and THEN lay over him for a snuggle and a selfie. WHILE IN RUT AND WITH LADIES. For me being able to handle your bucks easily and safely in any situation is a NON NEGOTIABLE. We of course ALWAYS encourage everyone to have the upmost attention and care when handling their animals- ESPECIALLY big bucks in rut because they are animals and that is a fundamental part of livestock safety with ANY animal.
I do strongly believe that genetics play a part in their overall disposition as well as the way you raise and handle them also playing a very important role.
