Hey Friends!
As we head into the Fall season, please keep our farm in mind for your Seasonal yard cleanup and composting!
We utilize bags of leaves for our garden beds and prefer leaves in paper bags, so we can recycle the bags by creating a lasagna layering system in our garden beds.
More drop off information will be announced mid September and into October. We will be accepting the following compost:
* Bagged leaves (preferably in paper bags or loosely tied plastic bags, so we can reuse/recycle them)
* pumpkins (CANNOT be painted), gourds, cornstalks, straw/ hay bales
***Additional year round composting:
We will be accepting year round composting, begining October 1st. Compost drop off details will be posted on our website and page. Please avoid bringing compost in individual plastic grocery bags. We strive to be a waste free facility and these bags just fill our landfill and require more labor and costs for us to manage.
As our FREE compost program grows, so does the demand to create a sorted compost bins and containers for our farm to efficiently and effectively utilize the composting items.
We will have the following compost containers available for our community:
* Pig Food- this container is solely for feeding our pigs. This food must be fruits and vegetables only. Please no horribly rotten fruits and vegetables. Food should be delivered in either 5 gallon buckets or plastic containers. Or the food can be dumped into one of our containers on site.
* Chicken Food- fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and meats
* Garden compost- coffee grounds, eggshells, anything that is very rotted, plant foliage, old soil
* Grass and lawn clippings- any lawn clippings, preferably in large black trash bags or paper bags we can reuse
* Chicken Coop clean out- bring the manure from your chicken coop, hamster cage, rabbit hutch, or domestic bird cage. NO CAT LITTER OR DOG WASTE
Stay tuned for more information!
