Roaming Acres Roaming Acres is an Ostrich, Berkshire Pig and Bison farm in Sussex County, NJ. We raise our animals on a 100% vegetarian diet to provide quality meats.

Roaming Acres farm was established in 2005 by farmer Todd Appelbaum. Todd owns and operates the farm in Sussex County New Jersey. On the farm we humanly raises Ostrich, Bison and Berkshire Pigs. We are passionate about raising quality meat as a healthy alternative to factory farmed meats. Our animals are free-roaming and raised on a 100% vegetarian diet. Nearly every part of the animal is used in

processing. Roaming acres offers ostrich and bison steaks, ground meat and jerky as well as bison bacon, hot dogs and sausage. The Berkshire pigs offers pork chops, bacon and sausages. We also carry a line of pet products.

Chicken has always been a staple for most families. Get creative and use thighs or cutlets for a different and healthy meal. Shish KaBobs, Parmesan chicken, lemon, butter scallopini, creamy chicken piccata, garlic or honey flavored - so many fun things that are easy and delicious.

Roaming Acres is a family farm and as on any farm, there is always work to do. Fences to build/repair, supplemental feed to unload, eggs to blow out, cleaning, mowing and on and on!! We run our farm like your ancestors might have so that we can bring you the best of the best in proteins. RA never adds hormones, steroids or things these days like mRNA additives. Our animals are natural - raised on New Jersey grasses with non-GMO grains as a supplement where needed. Try there - you can taste the difference.

Ostrich is a lean RED meat.-no white meat on this bird! Because it is a fowl, it naturally has less fat, calories & cholesterol.
Ostrich can be cooked any way you might cook beef but we suggest a medium to rare outcome because of the lean nature.
Roaming Acres raises our ostrich here in New Jersey. They graze on grasses and are supplemented with 100% vegetarian diet.

Have you ever tried Roaming Acres Bacon? Smoked, Uncured Nitrate free!
Always wonderful - and we have choices!
Roaming Acres carries Regular, Peppercorn, Guanciale & tips (for seasoning)
Contrary to the name, Uncured Bacon has been cured - but without using artificial nitrates. The curing prosess includes celery powder or sea salt. Ours is also smoked to perfection.
Healthy & delicious!!! Whats not to love??

Winter is definitely coming and time for comfort food at its finest. Roaming Acres has just the proteins for you and your family.
Might we suggest a charcuterie board of left overs, or taco tray or ever so wonderful chili, or an all time favorite of goulash. Maybe you have a bit of mashed potatoes left over- Shepherds Pie is always tasty and hearty!
Roaming Acres has ground meat in several heart healthy options-Bison,Ostrich, Pork & even Chicken.
All our meats are free range with supplemental grains and / or hay..We never use any hormones or additives. We grow our animals like you would if you had the farm.
