Now that it’s full swing gardening time how are you dealing with all the weeds!?

We use straw in our raised beds to help prevent the growth of weeds. It also acts as a water barrier to help the soil stay more moist in between watering!

We have straw bales available if you’d like to give it a try this year! Next year when we top our raised beds off we will just put it over the top of the straw.

Have you ever heard of Strawflowers?
They are a vibrant annual with papery blooms.
They are highly Deer Resistant!!
They love full sun and great draining soil.
They require deadheading every once in awhile.
They grow over 2 feet tall and wide!
They are wonderful for crafts involving dried flowers!!

If you’ve never seen one you’ve gotta come check them out. Their blooms literally feel like straw.

Have you ever planted Pentas at your house?
If not you are missing out on a wonderful sun loving plant. They are known for their clusters of star shaped flowers! So adorable!

A great plant to bring in butterflies and humming birds!

They are pretty low maintenance. Just take some little scissors and cut out old bloom clusters every once in awhile. They don’t want to be real wet all the time but make sure to keep them watered during dry spells.
