Beekeeping this season is going to look a bit different for me. Due to some restrictions I won’t be able to bee keep with baby #2 as much as I did with Iris. I am beyond grateful for my husband and my mentor Gale Moore for keeping my hives going this season. Pictures make look a little different this year, but Bellewether Bees is still moving right along.

The hive that lives in our siding swarmed today. Can’t wait to add these genetics to our apiary.

Chickens are doing well and starting to feather out. We hope to move them out to pasture next weekend.

The bees are hoping for a bit of rain and much warmer weather. Looking forward to making splits later this week.

I’ve been a bit MIA from social media since Christmas- that’s a post for another day. Enjoy a few hive pictures 🐝

Today I checked the hives and I couldn’t be happier with our winter survival. At this point in the season, if the colonies are alive, it means last year’s mite treatment was a success.

Between now and maple bloom, the biggest risk is starvation. I restocked everyone’s sugar blocks, added mite treatment strips, and started them back on pre/probiotics to give them a strong start.

This is going to be a fantastic season! 🐝
