When you get your hatching egg orders of course everyone loves extras 💚 BUT how do people feel about getting extra eggs that are not the same breed as what they’ve ordered?

I always like to send out 9 eggs for half dozen orders. I’ve been chewed out one good time for sending extra eggs that weren’t of the same breed that they ordered. That’s all it took for me to never do it again without asking first 😅

If I want to ship the same day they are laid sometimes I don’t end up with extras of the same breed and have to wait an extra day.

Myyy question is would you rather someone ask you if you’re okay with extras of a different breed before shipping? OR are you just appreciative of any extra eggs that you do receive in your orders? Thoughts?

If you know me by now you know if I could smack this rain in the face I would 🥲
I don’t normally discount but these seem too pretty to throw away SO I have this Maran half dozen ready to ship or local pick up.
They will be discounted because as you can see there’s footprints on these eggs 🫣 they’s justa little dirty and nothing I would normally ship but if I was running my incubators right now I’d absolutely hatch from.

These girls are later in their laying season so these shades are lighter than usual but still good color and speckles 🤎

My compost pumpkins are growing 🥹 everyone has to ignore the 15+ft pumpkin vines that are growing all over the place and way too close to the walkway but it’s okay because I’m growing pumpkins! 🫶🏻 🎃

🤎Rooster Destash🤎 I planned on introducing some new genetics to my Marans this year and my order was rooster heavy. I’ll be letting these roosters from The Rusty Hen grow out, take my picks, and then offer the rest to anyone local to me or willing to pick up within a reasonable distance 🤎

What’s for dinner??
I’m already prepping a broth to use for tomorrow nights dinner! I try to reduce any waste where I can so this is deer neck bone that will simmer on low all night with herbs and veggie scraps I keep in the freezer just for this. ♥️

I’m quiet but still here! Still shipping eggs! As long as the girls are laying and fertility stays 100% I’ll ship 🐣
Between our gross weather, eggs, chicks, growouts, laying hens and the SICKNESS that just ran through this house this weekend I am WHOOPED! 😅🤣

Yesterday I got the chance to pack and ship something other than eggs and y’all… HOW do y’all handle your small businesses unmedicated?! 🤣 Chicken business can be stressful during peak season and busy year round of course but holy smokes!

I love turquoise, western, and native made jewelry 🩵 it’s my thing outside of chickens. I got to do a little destash yesterday and I think it’s safe to say I’ll stick to eggs! 🤣 I’ve never had to deal with so many comments, negotiations, pictures, videos, messages, questions, and more! I loved It but WHEWWWW 😮‍💨

How do y’all juggle all the back and fourth and keep up? What else do y’all sell on your homestead other than eggs? After yesterday I have an even bigger respect for all the small business owners 😅🫶🏻
