A nice little spread of seedlings for sale at Simple Abundance in Red Wing! If you live nearby and haven’t checked out the store before you definitely need to put it on your list. They have great options for grab and go lunches and on Wednesday and Friday they do a hot lunch special as well. My personal favorite is the herb turkey salad or the pork ramen. Support local business and small farms and check them out soon!

Come join us!

Please join us this Sunday for a special Mother’s Day brunch buffet to celebrate the moms in our lives! We will serve the buffet from 9 AM to noon. It will feature a spread of classic breakfast offerings including Huettl’s bacon and asparagus from our farm. The regular menu will be available during our regular business hours of 11:30 onward. Toast to mom with a strawberry rhubarb mimosa or our signature Bloody Mary from the bar (sorry, not included in the buffet price). Stay tuned as well for evening specials!

I spoke this winter at a farming conference on our transplant production system. I learned a lot from the other presenters and took home a few tid bits (mostly about watering and potting soil fertility and its effect on germination). If I was doing my presentation again now I would change a few things. One is about watering. I think as small farmers we fear automation and sometimes cling to this idea that our special artful touch needs to grace every aspect of our operation. Out of necessity for more time to do other things this season we decided to turn our automatic watering system back on. And I’ve actually noticed that the plants look healthier (especially as they get larger and need more water) than when I have solely relied on hand watering. For one, it saves me close to an hour every day and it does a more even job. No more tapering flats that are on the edge of a table. The plants get a deeper watering in 5 minutes than I could do in half an hour trying to water the whole greenhouse by hand. So if you needed a nudge to set up automated overhead irrigation in your propagation space let this be it. More time for you or your employee to do something else, potentially healthier plants, and more money in your pocket over time. The initial investment is worth it!!!

🎉🎉 Big update 🎉🎉 we bought a restaurant! 😅 The Front Porch in Kellogg, MN is now owned by yours truly. We are so excited for the journey ahead! And we’re excited to bring some of what we all miss about Pearson Organics to the menu there. While we plan to keep the restaurant more or less operating as usual, (if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?) expect some farm fresh offerings this season on top of what has already made The Porch a great place for the last 8 years. Can’t wait to see you there!!

A little bed head never kept us out of the greenhouse! We’re hard at it over here getting the final trays planted for 2026. Then it’s on to tagging and delivery! There is still time to shop in our online store! Link in bio!

Thankfully all our plant babies are still tucked inside a warm greenhouse. These suckers are huge but luckily no damage was done!
