📣 A little update from us

We’ll be closing the stand temporarily as we take some time to reset and prepare for a fresh new chapter.

This isn’t goodbye — just a pause while we work on improving our hours, refreshing the menu, and making things run a little smoother for everyone who stops in 💛

✨ We will re-open July 3rd with new hours and new menu items we can’t wait to share with you.

Thank you so much for all the support so far. It truly means the world to us and keeps this little stand going.

Why do chickens take dust baths?

Believe it or not, chickens don’t stay clean by bathing in water—they bathe in dust!

By rolling around in dry dirt, sand, or dust, chickens help remove excess oils, loosen dead skin, and discourage unwanted pests from making themselves at home in their feathers.

A happy chicken covered head-to-toe in dust is usually just enjoying a spa day. 😆

🐔 FARM TIP OF THE DAY 🥚

Why don’t many backyard chicken keepers wash their eggs?

Fresh eggs have a natural protective coating called the “bloom.” This invisible layer helps seal the shell’s pores and keeps bacteria out.

When you wash an egg, especially with water, that protective bloom is removed. Once the bloom is gone, eggs become more vulnerable to bacteria and should be refrigerated.

That’s why many small farms and backyard flocks simply brush off light dirt and leave clean eggs unwashed until they’re ready to be used.

Fun fact: In many countries, eggs are sold unrefrigerated because the bloom is left intact!
