Our 2026 calving season end on May 18th, exactly 30 days after it started on April 18th, with the birth of 12 year old Shat Acres CrimsonDawn’s 9th calf, a whopping 108 lb bull calf. This was a difficult year as we experienced our first still birth. Lots of second guessing. What did I do wrong? Could I have done something differently? And there were feelings of guilt and failure. I let the cow down. I let my breeders, who entrusted me with the care of these magnificent animals, down. But there was lots to be thankful for. The day after the still born we had a beautiful heifer calf. We have a total of 6 healthy calves, 3 of each s*x. The grass is green and the cattle are happy. We go forward.
