A wealthy life is built in the things you keep doing when nobody is watching.

This morning I let myself sleep until I woke up naturally. I got up, handled a little bit of my finances, and once daylight came, I went out and did what I said I was going to do, my intentional 40-minute walk.

Nothing dramatic. Just a morning of keeping promises to myself. And I’m learning that this is part of wealth too. Wealth is not only the money in the account.

It’s the discipline to look at the numbers. It’s taking care of your body. It’s getting outside and moving. It’s creating routines that support the life you say you want. It’s starting the day with actions that line up with your goals instead of waiting until you “feel like it.”

This morning’s walk was a little over 43 minutes and 2.5 miles. But the bigger win for me was simple:
I said I was going to do it, and I did it!!

That kind of consistency builds confidence. And confidence makes it easier to keep showing up again tomorrow.

Health. Finances. Discipline. Peace. Progress.

It all belongs on the wealth journey because becoming wealthy is about more than money.

Today’s little green drink: Moringa Latte 🌿🥛

I wanted something different today, so I pulled out my moringa powder and made myself a simple iced drink with soy milk.

Moringa comes from the leaves of the Moringa oleifera tree. The leaves naturally contain nutrients and plant compounds, including antioxidants, and moringa powder can contribute small amounts of things like fiber, iron, calcium and other micronutrients depending on the serving size.

What I like about it is that it gives me another way to add a plant-based ingredient into something as simple as a beverage. One thing I don’t treat moringa as: a cure-all. There’s research looking at its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds, but a lot of the bigger health claims you see online are still being studied in people.

So for me, this is simply another plant-forward addition to the day not magic, just another intentional choice. 🌱 And paired with soy milk, I’m also getting some protein with my drink. Health is part of the wealth journey too.

Recipe to my mix:
🌿 1 tsp Moringa powder
💧 2 TBSP Hot water
🥛 1 cup Soy milk
🧊 Ice
2 tsp agave or whatever sweetener/flavoring you used, if any

Instructions:
I first mixed the moringa with the hot water so the powder could dissolve more smoothly. Then I added the agave and soy milk to my mason jar, gave everything a good shake until it got nice and frothy, and added the ice last.

Simple. Plant-forward. Intentional.

GET IN THE LAB! 👩🏾‍🍳🌿
Here’s one of those kitchen habits that just makes sense to me:
Save your vegetable scraps.
Onion ends and skins, carrot peels and ends, celery pieces, cabbage, herbs, mushroom stems and other usable vegetable trimmings don’t automatically have to become trash.
I keep a bag in the freezer and add clean vegetable scraps to it as I cook. When I’ve collected enough, it’s time to make stock.

For this batch I made about 8 quarts and added:
• a few bay leaves
• 2 teaspoons black peppercorns
• 1 tablespoon salt
• water

Then let those vegetables do what they still know how to do...give you flavor.

And this is one of the reasons I say becoming wealthy is about more than money.

Wealth can also look like:
using what you already paid for,
wasting less,
learning useful skills,
preparing ahead,
and making your kitchen work harder for you.

Once the stock is finished, strain it and cool it properly before storing. If you’re freezing it, you’ve got options:
- Quart containers: Divide it into freezer-safe containers and leave some headspace at the top. Liquid expands when it freezes, so don’t fill the container all the way to the rim.

-Silicone trays: Freeze the stock in smaller portions, pop the frozen blocks out, transfer them to a freezer bag, and grab only what you need later.

Either way, label it so you know what it is and when you made it. Then when a soup, beans, rice, sauce, gravy, or another recipe needs stock, you’ve already got some waiting.

That bag of scraps just became another ingredient.
Now THAT is using what you have. And with food costing what it does, I’m interested in getting as much value as I reasonably can out of what comes into my kitchen.

Waste less. Learn more. Prepare ahead.

That’s another kind of wealth. Because becoming wealthy is about more than money.

Peace is part of wealth too.

I stood in front of this waterfall for a few minutes and just let myself be still.

It was cold. Very cold. 😂
But it was also peaceful, calming, and worth every second.

Sometimes wealth looks like money, progress, goals, and building.

And sometimes it looks like having enough presence to stop, take in what’s around you, quiet your mind, and simply enjoy the moment.

I’m learning that a wealthy life also includes peace.

Because becoming wealthy is about more than money.

A 50-year-old doesn’t necessarily have less time than a 25-year-old in the way people assume.

We tend to look at age like a countdown clock.

Twenty-five means you have plenty of time. Fifty means you better hurry up!

But life doesn’t hand any of us a guaranteed number of years.

What I do have at 50 is something I didn’t have at 25:

experience.
perspective.
lessons learned.
a clearer understanding of what matters to me.
and a much better idea of what I want to build with the time I have.

So I’m not looking at 50 as being “late.”

I’m looking at it as being awake.

There are still habits to build, money to manage, health to protect, things to learn, places to experience, dreams to pursue, and a legacy to create.

Maybe the question isn’t, “How much time do I have left?”

Maybe the better question is:

“What am I going to do with the time I have?”

I’m 50.

And I’m still building.

Because becoming wealthy is about more than money.
