My kids grew up watching the movie A Christmas Story. Ther are big fans. So in 2019 I spent the year collecting vintage kitchen items as used in the movie (not the actual props). I decorated my kitchen as close to the movie set as I could. When my adult kids came to visit Christmas Ever they were in for a big surprise. When I decided to tear down the old cabin on the property I thought it would be nostalgic to save some of the old things from it. That's when I came up with the idea to salvage and restore the stove, sink and light fixture for a new kitchen. I got a vision in my head and it blossomed into a huge project. I can say today it is done! There are a few minor tweaks I still need to complete, but they are minor. It brings me so much joy to see a project like this come to fruition! I’m in the process of “tweaking” a 1902 home. This kitchen was added sometime later…. 40’s I’d imagine. Then in the 70’s...

I’m in the process of “tweaking” a 1902 home. This kitchen was added sometime later…. 40’s I’d imagine. Then in the 70’s paneling was layered on. Everything I’m doing is with paint and elbow grease as tearing it up and restoring it to its former glory isn’t financially feasible. Although the first layer is all that’s done on the countertops, it will be restored to its original red… not in Formica as it’s not available on my budget..,but in showroom appearance, as a local car restorer is helping. Lol! Sometimes you have to be inventive. As the laundry is under construction, please ignore the washer in the pic. It won’t be there in the end.I’m in the process of “tweaking” a 1902 home. I’m still working on it but had a minute while canning to clean up and start again. So here is a picture of my vintage kitchen. I live in alaska and it’s very rare to find vintage items in good shape. I found this vintage dining room set on marketplace for 750.00. But wait it was advertised as just the table and 4 chairs. I snapped it up! When the lady that sold it to me went to find the leaf she came up with 2 leaves and 2 more chairs! Score! Granted a couple are in bad shape but i bought seat pads and they a great. I have two hoosiers the stove was from my original apartment when i rented from my dad and all the items hanging are from my past.
