Hanging Lake - Glenwood Canyon, CO

There are no words to describe Hanging Lake and the hike .beee and I did last week. These pictures honestly don’t do it enough justice. The lake itself didn’t seem real and was straight out of a fairytale. Mild 3 mile round trip hike (although 1k in elevation gain in just 1.5 miles) and unreal views the entire way. Then you get to the lake and can’t believe your eyes.

While conquering peaks and mountains has been epic, this one ranks right up there with a few of them in terms of epic/ prettiest hikes in Colorado so far. It’s a must do for anyone that can get out to this area.

And not to be outdone, the drive to get there was breathtaking through glenwood canyon and an overnight stay at iron mountain hot springs (literally on the Colorado river) made this a trip for the ages. This state continues to deliver.

Chasm Lake - RMNP - 9 mile hike and 2500 feet of elevation game

Another Colorado bucket list hike checked off the lake. Chasm lake is epic. The hike also epic with a fun scramble at the end up to the lake. Pictures don’t even begin to do this hike justice.

Started at 530 and got to the lake just as the clouds were leaving so we could get a full view of the majestic af longs peak (I’m coming for you).

Beautiful views the entire time and we were blessed with another moose sighting. It was foggy so the photos weren’t great but he was majestic. Quality time spent with my mom is an understatement.

The hikes out here continue to not disappoint. This state is unreal and I’m blessed to live so close to so many epic views. What a day!

Quandary Peak - 14,265 feet - 3/58 - 13th highest

I’m not sure there’s a better way to spend a birthday than to be on top of a 14er. I solo hiked Quandary Peak (out by Breckenridge) today in about 5 hours and 15 minutes. 6.5 miles and about 3,333 feet of elevation gain with a lovely end to the peak of 500 ft of elevation gain in the last .3 miles šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø. Considered one of the ā€œeasiest 14ersā€ this one was no joke.

I had to get redemption after getting snowed out half a mile from the peak in June and it felt amazing to conquer it and to do it on my birthday was pretty special! There’s something peaceful, spiritual and triumphant about doing these solo hikes (although I do appreciate my hiking buddies). Gased like the rest of the ones I’ve done but slowly upping the number is fun and great thing to check off the bucket list!

Cheers to 36 being the best one yet with lots more peaks to conquer! šŸ—»šŸ”ļøšŸ»

And just like that my first year in Colorado is complete āœ…

I can’t believe how quickly it went but what a year it was! I took a big leap of faith moving here and it’s wound up being the adventure of a lifetime that is impossible to fit into just twenty photos.

Between climbing mountains, living in the snow for the first time, skiing, adventures with old and new friends, concerts and epic road trips, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I do know one thing…..I love it here and cannot wait to see what year two holds!

Life’s unpredictable but sometimes that’s what makes the best memories 😊. Cheers to many more years to come here and lots more mountains to climb!

Mt Elbert, CO - 14,440 feet elevation -2/58 14ers done

On the board this year for my 14er goal and what an epic first one of the season! Mt. Elbert is the tallest point in all of Colorado and 2nd tallest mountain in the lower 48 states (behind Mt Whitney, CA by a couple of feet). That’s a pretty cool feeling to stand up there at literally the top of the world looking out on some of the most indescribable views in the world.

9.9 mile hike, 4459 elevation gain and just over seven hours of hiking….i am spent! Shoutout to .beee though for the support to keep going when I could barely breathe above 13k feet.

The hike was so hard but also so memorable. Views of being above the clouds watching the sunrise, deer and marmot sightings, lake views, gorgeous hikes through the treeline, amazing company and just the most epic views imaginable.

Lots more to do but this one will be hard to beat for many reasons! I love you Colorado.

Sometimes playing tour guide to visitors turns into epic road trip days….especially when you’re so close to so much epic landscape! What started as a mini road trip turned into silverthorne, Loveland pass, ski resort views, to Georgetown, to mt Bierstadt and guanella pass. Indescribably beauty complete with my forst@Colorado mountain goats sightings šŸ˜

One year ago today I took a photo in olde town Arvada on a trip out to visit and explore potential places to move to…..today I walked Parker around the lake in negative degree weather and came back home to my beautiful home in Arvada. What a difference a year can make….

While it’s only been five months of living here the last year seems like a blur and that weekend a year ago almost seems fake. It’s wild what happens in 365 days and I could not be more grateful.

Who knows what the future holds but I couldn’t be happier I made the leap and made the move. It’s crazy how much (and little) I’ve explored of this state already and am looking forward to seeing what the next year holds.

Life’s too short….take risks, make big moves and enjoy it. Lots of great things out there 😊

Our first Colorado snow and Parker’s first ever snow experience!

A big risk in moving here was Parker had never seen or been in the snow and I wasn’t sure if he was going to be a spoiled Orange County dog šŸ˜‚. Turns out however that husky DNA was unlocked the second the snow started falling last night and he loved it today (which made me so happy).

We got over 4 inches of snow today which was a good storm and I absolutely love it šŸ˜. Lots of beauty everywhere around the neighborhood and it felt good to be outside in the fresh air with the snow coming down.

Winter is coming quickly but it’s great to know Parker and I are ready for it!

Mt. Bierstadt, CO - 14,065 Feet - 1/58

I did it! One of not only my Colorado bucket list items, but also my life bucket list items…. Check! And it was just as epic as I could have imagined 😊I am pretty proud of this one….not going to lie.

I solo hiked this one starting at 5:07 in the dark with just a head lamp, and finished at 9:19 (with a thirty minute stay on the peak). I’ve heard the 14ers here aren’t as pretty as some of the other mountain climbs but I don’t know…..seeing an unbelievable red sunrise at 14,000 feet was breathtaking šŸ˜. Worth getting up at 4 AM for!

There was something serene and magical both sitting at the top looking over the land below and just as awe inspiring looking back at the peak when I was pretty much done. The first of hopefully many (there are 58 here in Colorado and a few more across America I’d love to do).

Truly can’t put into words how cool this was for me and that I handled the altitude so well. Here’s to many more hiking adventures!
