Vacation time to Vegas means only one thing! Little dayyyyyy drinking! Been awhile since river been on vacation and this one is much needed. Hopefully I come back rich!

Gotta bring out the good stuff when you go vacation! And I bought a great collab from @lagunabeercompany and @riipbeer to celebrate! Riipin greeters is a west coast style ipa made with Talus, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. This 7.1% beer just hits the spot. Two great so cal breweries combine to produce a hoppy, bitter and floral beer. It’s so delicious.

The only downside to leaving for vacation is leaving Parker home but I know he will be excited to see when I come home rich.

Cheers to an early start to the weekend! Paws and drink good beers!!

I’ve had nerves bottled up all week for a second date I have tonight so it’s only logical I grab a beer beforehand to relax.

Shocker I know I’m at @bottlelogicbrewing @bottlelogicbrew …..it is the best brewery ever after all!

I’m sipping on a hazy dips with mosaic and el dorado hops and it’s delicious. No bitterness at all and instead a nice floral and juicy mouthfeel.

Jokes aside about the date, I make any excuse to come here. They are the best!

Cheers to the weekend friends! Paws and drink good beer!

So good to be back on the course after a few month break! Tonight I’m aiming for the scul-pin!

The @ballastpointbrewing sculpin will always be one of my favorites despite its rocky past.

That’s what 2022 is about for me though. Doing things that make me happy.

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

A big game calls for a big meal and a big beer! First of all, let’s go @rams !

I’m firing up the @traegergrills today to smoke some garlic Parmesan and teriyaki wings while Parker oversees the process. Finished product pictures coming later.

I picked up the perfect beer for today from my favorite spot @dimensionliquor ! The football themed can design was perfect for watching the games today but the beer is incredible! This is the coffin corner hazy double ipa from @beerzombies and @falseidolbrewing . 8.5% and loaded with cites, motueka, and Nelson hops, this hazy packs a big time punch! It’s fragrant, hoppy, citrusy and the nose on it is so refreshing. Honestly one of the best beers I’ve had in awhile and a must try.

Can you see the sheep-ish grin on my face? I decided to ram-p up my workouts this week and my body hated me so a much needed jacuzzi session was in order. Sorry but the baaaaaaaad jokes are back!

I do feel a little guilty posting this while the east coast is getting slammed with snow but it is just too pretty out tonight to not post.

I grabbed the carnibaal smoothie sour from the fridge tonight as I try and get rid of my stash of sours (not my favorite type of beer after all). But anything from @greatnotion is going to be good and this one is no different. They actually collabed with @baabaabrewhouse in Texas to come up with this beer that includes raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, cotton candy, and marshmallow flavor. I’ll be brutally honest……I really dislike the trend of throwing marshmallow, cereal and candy in beers because I love the true hoppy and clean tasting beers. But I went in with an open mind and enjoyed this beer. For being a smoothie beer it wasn’t ultra thick and I definitely got some good raspberry and blueberry flavors. To me though it was a little artificially flavored because of the marshmallow but overall not a bad beer. I should save these for hot summer days by the pool to be honest.

Again, a tasty unique beer that’s good quality for what it is. Just not my favorite style……anyone want to come help me drink all these sours and smoothie beers I have left?

Happy Monkish Monday! So excited I finally can participate in one of these!

As many of you already know, yesterday was a really big day for me. My divorce was final and I decided I wanted to go to @monkishanaheim to celebrate. I told a few friends and family if they wanted to come they were more than welcome and as you can see by the last photo I have some amazing people in my life who wanted to help me celebrate.

The past 7 months have been rough but I have so many awesome people in my life as well as so many fun beer adventures ahead that I can’t wait to go explore more!

If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy @monkishbrewing before do yourself a favor and get your hands on some of their beer. I did a few half pours but my favorite of the day was the Clear Conscience IPA. Not only was it the perfectly named beer for what yesterday was, but it was a really solid hazy juice bomb.

They also had a few dark lagers there that were so damn good as well as great Belgian styles (with hibiscus in it for a pink color).

All around great day to celebrate with the people that have helped me through the last 7 months the most.

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers to new breweries!

“Mike, why the hell are you drinking a pumpkin stout in January?”

Because I felt like it and it sounded good. That’s why. I’ve set some goals for myself this year around personal growth and a big one for me is just enjoying what makes me happy and going with the flow. I’ve spent way too much time over the last year stressing over doing the right thing at the exact right time to make everyone happy. Well sometimes you gotta look out for number one…..which in my case is Parker 😂. But I’m taking time to enjoy the things that make me happy, which tonight is an incredible beer from @copperkettlebrewing !

This Denver based brewery is a great one if you haven’t tried them and this is their spooky hollow. A 9.2%, 19.2oz rum barrel aged imperial pumpkin porter. What!? So many complex flavors in this one I don’t know where to begin.

You get a great dark and chocolatey nose with a slight hint of pumpkin. The first sip is definitely boozy and you get the slight hint of the rum barrels but it’s not overpowering. The base of this porter is so strong in terms of malty , Smokey, and chocolaty.

The mouthfeel in this beer is so smooth and provides a nice warm down too on your belly in a frigid 60 degree night here in so cal.

And what better pairing with a beer like I than with a steak. Also props to Parker for the multiple photobombs 😂

Look out world. Parker and I are coming to take over!

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY PARKER!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

It’s a very special day here as our mascot turns 21 (in dog years at least) and what better way to celebrate than with a dog brew from @buschbeer and some floppy ear swag!

To be sappy for a second, I don’t know where I’d be without this dingus in my life. He has been one my rocks over the last year and I couldn’t imagine not having him around to help me through it. Man’s best friend is the biggest understatement when it comes to Parker.

So cheers to this goofy, loving, sleepy, stalker, treat friend, weirdo, ball of energy, stick loving, coyote chasing, couch stealing, sweet boy that I get to call my fur child! 🍻

Here’s to many more adventures and years ahead buddy!

It’s no secret by now that my 2021 was not what I expected and honestly a complete s**t show. But rather sit here and complain about all the negatives and how difficult it was I thought it’d be fun for me to instead look at all the positives from the past year.

I wasn’t as active posting or interacting when things blew up in June but I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the love Parker and I still get and for everyone sticking with us! I can assure you that 2022 will bring much more posting, more homebrewing, brewery hopping, giveaways, new merch and hopefully some exciting news :)

With that being said, here are some of the highlights of 2021:
- finally met some instagram friends in person @yardgamesworld @gentle_llama
- went to my first baseball game in over a year (and many more to come next year)
- went to 6 ducks games which is my all time high with much more season to go
- went on my first “first date” in over 10 years 😳
- made so many new friends and spent time with my already amazing family and friends
- finished on the podium yet again in beer Olympics
- launched my website!
- started an Etsy store and learned 3d printing
- got a Disneyland season ticket
- brewed beer that didn’t taste half bad
- drank some amazinnnnnnng beers
- and too many other to count!

My point is……despite the toughest year of my life, it was filled with so many amazing ones!

Thank you all for making it a memorable one and cheers to 2022 being the best one yet!

CAN you believe it’s almost Christmas! Duck ya! It’s the season to drink good beer around the tree but also be creative and make gifts for other people.

You’ve seen how many @anaheimducks games I’ve been to this year already and know what a fan I am, so when I saw this @saintarcherbrew Flying V hazy ipa I knew I had to do something fun with the cans and not get rid of them!

First the beer. The name is of course an epic ode to the old mighty ducks movies (I’m still not over the name change to drop the mighty by the way) and has the old school logo on it. But the beer inside it is even better. While the can doesn’t have a description of malt bill or hops, I can tell you the beer itself pours hazy and is a juice bomb. I wish I knew the hops in it but it has a great balance or bitter and juicy. Really refreshing at 6.2%.

Now for the craft part of it. I opened an Etsy store a few months back which I haven’t promoted much of yet but I’ve turned old cans into little succulent planters or candles. I made some candles for my family for Christmas and made a hop scented one for me (naturally).

I can’t wait to really get things off the ground next year with floppy ear beer, my Etsy store and to go to watch more ducks games!

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack….5 quacks for 5 games already this year! Might be the most games in a season I’ve ever been to. And killer seats to boot! Let’s go @anaheimducks ! Hard to beat boys night at the @hondacenter ! Oh wait it does get better…golden road beer all night. And maybe the best part is watching @whitfitz crush it for the @anaheimduckspowerplayers ! Cheers floppy ear fam! #ducks #nhl #beer #craftbeer #boysnight

The names welch.....Mike Welch.

Sorry but couldn't help myself with dressing up in a tuxedo (a rare occurrence).

Congrats to the beautiful @tara.r.welch ....oh and I guess @gregorywelchh too! What a beautiful wedding this past weekend and thank you for letting me be a part of it!

Yes I'm that guy that brings his own craft beer to a wedding. Sue me. But cheers to @wayfinderbeer for this golden tiger Lager. Crisp. Clean. And smooth. The perfect sipping beer while getting ready for wedding festivities while also packing in the flavor.

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

The best power duos in life include PB&j, Scooby-Doo and shaggy, eggs and bacon and [email protected] and floppy ear beer!

It was only logic-al that I took Matt to a few local breweries before he LEFT. And I took him to two of my [email protected] and @leftcoastbrewing_irvine . Both unique in their own ways but both equally awesome!

Bottle logic is my favorite brewery of all time so I had to take Matt before the ducks game. We had two flights worth of beer to introduce Matt to the range of styles but I made sure he got a few of the big heavy stouts to experience the great beers they put out. But we both agree....the 714 blonde is just the best they have to offer. So flavorful and refreshing....just crushable.

And then I took him to @leftcoastbrewco in Irvine to show him one of my favorite hidden gem breweries. I've never been to the Irvine location and it's amazing (the BBQ food is unreal). And even though the bears sucked, we had an awesome time and drank some amazing brews (including my personal favorite when it comes to beer names....nuclear chi chis 🤣) .

Overall this is just an appreciation post about how cool it is to meet someone I met through Instagram and immediately consider them a close friend. There is lots more to come from Matt and I in the future so stay tuned! In the meantime make sure you're following him and grab his awesome book on the history of some of the most popular yard games in the world!

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

I finally got to meet @yardgamesworld in person and I am duckin pumped! After many video calls and texts, we finally were able to meet up in person when Matt got sent out here on a business trip.

If you are not following him you need to immediately. He is even cooler in person and he is one of the hardest working guys out here on instagram working to launch his brand and his new book (https://www.yardgamesworld.com/products/the-worlds-greatest-backyard-games-book)

As an added bonus, he's a sports nut just like me and I got to take him to watch my second favorite team....the @anaheimducks !

I've gotten back into hockey big time this year and with the ducks playing well, it was awesome to be able to show Matt one of my local sports venues.

And no sports game is complete without beer right? And what better way to support your team than to drink the beer made for the team! @brewery_x is a sponsor of the ducks and brewed up the quack ipa and the blonde duck beer just for hockey season.

Other than being awesome because it supports both a team I love and a brewery I love, the beer is fantastic! Both offer unique tastes and I highly recommend you check brewery x out if you can.

Oh and did I mention that Matt was good luck because the ducks won 4 to 1! Great seats, amazing game and even better company. Hard to beat a Sunday like that!

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!

Parker always wants a pizza the action, especially when food is involved. And I think it's toot-ally awesome to have a buddy around that wants to be near me 24/7. But Parker gets all gas-ed up when he eats human food.....

Ok I'll stop but how am I not supposed to make a million puns and dad jokes when a beer is named pizza toots! 🤣🤣

I'm already a huge fan of @drekkerbrewing but I HAD to grab this beer off @tavour based on the name alone! As an added bonus it was a 7% ipa so I was actually excited for the content in the can on top of the silly name.

This beer is a New England Style IPA brewed with CTZ, Rakau & Ekuanot hops. I really enjoyed the flavor of this beer as the melon tastes really shone through and had a really nice balance of bitter and tropical. The aroma was pretty incredible as well and the mouthful was fairly light. I've mostly had other beer styles from drekker but they nailed this one and I'm pretty excited that I have another one in the fridge waiting for me.

Name aside, this is a quality beer that you should definitely try.

"Do you want a s'more?"
"S'more of what?"
"You're killing me smalls!"

Name a better movie quote.......bet you can't.

This is an appreciation post to all of you.......thank you for helping me turn Floppy Ear into something meaningful and a small business. When I started this account it was a side hobby and it's become much more than that. Thanks to all your support and purchases I was able to make my first donation to @irvineanimals . This shelter is so near and dear to my heart because that's where I got Parker from and this donation couldn't have been made without you all. So from the bottom of mine and Parkers heart THANK YOU.

Speaking of appreciation, it's fall which means it's dark beer season (even if it's still 75 degrees here in so cal). So I thought I'd do something marsh-mellow tonight and drink s'more beer thanks to @dimensionliquor and @topplingbrews .

You all know of my beer crush on toppling goliath but this is the first stout I've ever had from them. I've been so intrigued by all the epic stouts they post about and I was so excited to get one finally. This beer does NOT disappoint.

You can see from the color (and the fact that you can't even see the floppy ear logo on the glass) that this beer is as thiccc and dark as hell. The nose on it screams campfire smores and the first sip takes you immediately to camping. This beer is smokey, roasty and so complex. It's heavy on the palate but so smooth and balanced. It's chocolatey and marshmellowy and just incredible. It does not feel like you're drinking a 10% beer which is a testament once again to the Brewers. I need like six more of these for the next time I'm camping or need the fireplace. This one is Parker approved!

4.5 floppy ears out of 5!

Paws and drink good beer! Cheers!
