We have ended our days of baking and we miss you all very much. If you ever visited us at the Farmers Market, you know these two faces. They have been busy forming a band- Backyard Fire! If you are in the Rosendale area, please come check them out at the on Saturday July 15 at 1pm in the Rosendale Theater. It's free. You can hear some Beatles, some Bruno Mars, and even some Theo (yes, he writes songs!).

Why do I always specifiy that the Almond Blossom Cookies are "Naturally" gluten-free? The products I make are traditional recipes, all from long before my time. I understand and love the stories behind them, as well as the way the ingredients work with one another. There are so many great, highly trained bakers in this area that can adapt recipes or create their own using gluten-free items. This is not a skill of mine. But, as luck would have it, these gorgeous, sweet, unique cookies are made up of exclusively gluten free tastes of Sicily. They are gluten-free because the Nonnas of long ago mixed their almonds, honey, lemon and cinnamon and declared that nothing more was needed. (And you don't argue with an Italian grandma.)

Travel all the way through Italy with your taste buds. Torta di Cioccolato is a Northern Italian recipe. You can enjoy it in the Catskills instead of traveling to the Alps. My outward facing cell phone camera is busted and I have only been able to use selfie mode. This makes it incredibly difficult to take pictures of what I have in front of me. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to...me! Tonight I am prepping the candied citrus peel for biscotti. Tomorrow is baking day for Sunday's Kingston Waterfront Farmers Market. This will be Lake Cucine's last appearance there for the season. Please stop by! (PS- Basil placed in photo for scale. I am only 3 inches taller than a basil plant.)
