Greetings Everyone,
We have some very difficult news to share about Fae Nectar, along with a small smidge of good news. After herculean efforts by our crew and our community to help us recover from the storm, we have come to the truly sad decision that it’s time for us to close Fae Nectar for good. There are many reasons behind this, but of course the most insurmountable is the economic aftermath of Hurricane Helene. We have cherished our time in Lake Lure, but now is our time to sail west to Valinor.
Last winter, when things were looking particularly bleak, our community came together to save us like Gandalf’s arrival at Helm’s Deep. The generosity during the Save the Fae campaign was absolutely awe-inspiring, and it did exactly what we needed it to: it sustained us to summer 2026. Unfortunately, this summer just didn’t bring the level of recovery we needed to make Fae Nectar sustainable going forward. That is a painful reality to accept, but it is the reality we have to face: that it’s just not feasible for us to continue.
On a personal note, I can honestly say I’ve dedicated almost every waking moment to Fae Nectar since 2020, and it’s been an incredible journey with you all and because of you all. But it has also come at a cost; I feel much like butter that has been scraped over too much bread, and it’s time to recover. I don't think I can ever adequately express how thankful I am to everyone who helped make Fae Nectar what it became. To our investors who believed in us and took a chance on this crazy idea, to the friends and strangers who built things, fixed things, cooked things, performed, volunteered, promoted, donated, encouraged us, and kept us going, and to every single patron who walked through our doors, thank you. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, ordered a meal, raised a glass, came to a festival, danced, sang sea shanties, fired a catapult, watched a blacksmith work, threw an axe, listened to music, played a board game, dressed up, danced the night away, brought their kids or their friends, or simply sat around a table and enjoyed being there. And thank you to everyone who donated, shared our posts, told someone about us, or supported us in any way. I am unbelievably thankful, and deeply indebted to all of you.
One of the small bits of good news is that we aren't closing today or tomorrow. Our hope and our plan is to remain open to the public throughout October, with Halloween being our official goodbye festival and final party. For real this time. We want one more month together, and one proper celebration to send Fae Nectar off. We are also working hard to finish one final batch of our mead, which we hope to have bottled and available throughout October. If you've ever wanted to take a little piece of Fae Nectar home with you, this will be your definitive last chance.
But this is not the end of the story. When I started Fae Nectar, my dream was to create immersive experiences with the community where people could step outside their everyday lives for a few hours, where strangers could become friends, where music, food, fire, stories, and a little bit of magic could all exist together. That remains my passion. So while Fae Nectar is coming to an end, our magic will continue elsewhere. Ideas and plans are already sprouting, conversations are happening, and I have a cautious hope for the future. It’s too early to say what the next chapter looks like yet, but I know that the fellowship we built is real, the memories wonderful, and the idea behind Fae Nectar is still very much alive.
It would be wonderful to see you all at some of our last events, especially our last medieval festival this Saturday 9/26 and our Grand Finale Halloween Festival 10/31! Thank you for joining us on the wondrous journey and I hope you'll come along wherever we go next!
