This year definitely didn’t go as expected. My crop plan was bigger and more in depth than ever. A lot of hours were spent in spreadsheets.
It was unfortunate to cut the season so short, but with a new business and a new baby, something had to give.
I miss the farmers market and I know I let a lot of our customers down who looked forward to fresh produce every week. I, too, miss the spring mix. I don’t think I’ve had any since July. I never even reached the Fall seeding in my crop plan.
I’m not entirely sure what the future of the farm will be. Keep it as a hobby farm, run it part time and do a few markets, or lease it to someone looking to grow their own farm business. But it won’t be at the capacity that it was this spring or previous years, at least not with me behind the wheel.
Not everything always goes to plan. I suppose it doesn’t have to. While this post might sound sad, I promise it’s all good things. Briana and I love our baby girl and are so excited to start a family. Our other business is flourishing which is great because babies aren’t cheap. Plus, we’re drowning in tomatoes since we didn’t sell any.
I appreciate all the support from friends, family, and customers over the past 5 years with the farm.
Please keep supporting local produce the best you can.✌️
