🔥 Fire Marshal Program Coming to the Key Peninsula This Summer 🔥
Pierce County is launching a Fire Marshal pilot program on the Key Peninsula this summer aimed at increasing wildfire prevention and public safety. The program will focus on identified “hot spots” where illegal burning and fireworks activity have historically created higher fire risk.
Fire Marshal staff will be actively reinforcing current burn restrictions, state fireworks laws (RCW), and county-permitted burning regulations. Their primary goal is education and prevention, but it’s important for the community to know that violations may result in citations. Fines can be up to $1,000 depending on the violation.
As part of this effort:
Fire Marshal staff are available to speak at HOA or neighborhood meetings if your community would like more information.
Key Peninsula Fire Department will host a community meeting as summer approaches to answer questions and help residents understand the rules. (Date TBD)
This program is about keeping our community safe and preventing fires before they start. Education and awareness are the priority, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to follow burn restrictions and fireworks regulations.
If your HOA or neighborhood group would like a presentation, please reach out.
🚒 Together we can help protect the Key Peninsula this summer.
