Some great friends of ours are involved with this incredible organization ๐
We ran out of food at Produce Swap in less than two hours! ๐คฏ
I'll never be one to discourage folks from taking what they'll use, there's folks on the street, big families, laid off gov employees, people who make batch meals for the food bank; neighbors gotta eat.
I *am* one to encourage and support folks stepping into whatever capacity they've got to create and share though!
If you've got pantry goods, bring em down! This is *the* spot to find a home for those half empty spices, snacks you tried and didn't like, old cans, nearly-full ingredients you only needed a tablespoon of, cans of diet coke your brother left at your house, all the stuff that doesn't need to be in your kitchen anymore.
Edit: farmers and home gardeners are often down here if you are curious and have questions about growing your own food! And remember, there's always seeds available at PEX! This is what produce swap is really all about.
Do you glean or forage? Imperfect and wild foods are welcome here!
If you've got connections to grocers, restaurants, wholesale kitchens, farms, or other food businesses, see if there's a waste stream there that could be directed this way instead!
Don't ever feel the need to buy anything to bring down! If money's the resource you've got to share, we're happy to take donations for our operating costs, or pass it along to the food bank nearest you - they get the most bang for their buck when it comes to bulk buying and providing! Plus we're already working with Bremerton Foodline as a last-call for items that won't last through the weekend at their facility.
If you need help growing or harvesting or transporting, keep an eye out for our mutual aid posts. Share an ask for help in the comments!
