Meet your competitors for Top Chef of Polk County 2026 - Spring Into Flavor!

Chef Ken James proudly describes his culinary style as "Eclectic Soul Food," a celebration of global comfort food. Influenced by the women who shaped his cooking during his upbringing paired with the vibrant cultural flavors of Queens, NY, Chef Ken honed his craft as a self-taught chef. He founded Plates On Deck in 2019 in New York and relocated to Central Florida in 2020. Now operating out of Catapult Lakeland, Plates On Deck offers catering, private chef services, and pop-up dining experiences. Chef Ken is currently a culinary student at Valencia College. He gained national recognition as a featured chef on Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race Season 17. It is Chef Ken’s mission to help inspire the next generation of culinary entrepreneurs.

We are excited to have Chef James return to the competition this year!
