Wow! Sorry it took so long for the update. I know all the BBQ people already know the results from Naples. But for those of you who don't, here we go: Getta Grip finished 16th overall. Still in the top 33% but not where we wanted to be. That being said The #1 & #2 2011 FBA Teams of the Year started out where they left off. Big Congrats to Terry and Stump (Git R Smoked) on the Grand and Dana & Janet (Big Papa"s Country Kitchen) on the Reserve for the first competition of the year. It's time to rest for a week and then we will be cooking in Dundee at the Southern Smoke BBQ. Until then, thank you all for just being you!!

Happy New Year to all!! We are getting ready to go to Naples (actually Bob & Rena' are already there). Ziggy Dick's (Love the name) BBQ. The first competition of 2012 and even tho it has only been a few weeks since we cooked it seems like months. We are so ready to get this year started. We plan on cooking a lot and hope that the few little changes will boost us up a little. The biggest thing we are looking forward to is seeing the friends we have met over the past year and of course making new ones. We will let you know how it all went when we return. Again, Thank you to all of our family and friends for the support. We couldn't do it without you!!

Home from Perry, Florida. The Getta Grip BBQ Team had their best showing of the year. Cooked in two competitions at the same time. The Southern Pines Open and the Florida BBQ Association Triple Crown Invitational. In the Open we won our very first catagory (Brisket). The invitational was even better to us as we cooked against the best in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. We had a 2nd Place Brisket, 6th Place Ribs, and a 7th Place Chicken. 9th Overall. Still looking for help with our Pork. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. The year is over for us and we look forward to seeing everyone in Clermont for the FBA end of the year party Saturday. Our next stop will be Naples, Florida for the "Ziggy Dick's". I love that name. Thanks again to all our family and friends who support us.

Getta Grip has a few last minute things to get ready (Like Parkas and winter boots) and we should be ready to head North to the great state of Alabama. ("That is tough to say being a Gator fan"). We are really looking forward to meeting new people and hopfully hanging out with some of the old friends. Congrats to all of you who participated in the Big Pig Jig and Best of the Best this past weekend. Congrats to Rub on the RGC. Everyone please have a safe warm trip to Elba.
Chad, Thanks for the kind words last week on your show. You are a class act.

This BBQ stuff is getting to be a lot of fun. Getta Grip landed in Zephyrhills this weekend. We had a 9th Place in ribs, 9th in Pork, 5th in Chicken and 2nd in Brisket. A fantastic 4th Overall finish. I would like to thank the team for all the effort and and hard work performed by all and because we were so close to home (18.5 miles) we had some friends come out too. Thank's to all of you for the support. I guess we will travel to Elba, Alabama in 2 weeks for our next and possibly our last event for the year. I just can't wait. 2012 may be an interesting year for Geta Grip. Stay tuned.

A wet weekend in central Florida still brought 53 BBQ Teams to the Fine Swine in the Pit BBQ Compitition in Mulberry. Congratulations to Fat Ashes for winning their 1st Grand Champion and Swamp Boys for winning the Reserve in the Pro Division. Getta Grip BBQ had the opportunity to compete against the best in Florida and had a successful cook as we move to improve. Out of 32 Pro teams we had an 8th Place in Chicken, 8th Place in Brisket, and 8th Overall. Thank you all for the support. Especially Kelly GMC-Buick of Bartow. Our next stop will be Zeypherhills the last weekend of October. Please come visit.

Wow!! What a weekend. Congratulations to Florida Boys on their repeat Grand Champion. Git R Smoked for the Reserve. Smokin in the Swamp should be on everyones calender for next year. The venue is Wonderful. Amos is the Best host we could ask for. The money was Great but that was just a part of the awards that were presented. Everything from a $1,000.00 jacket, to hunting knives, and top of the line coolers. Marvin not only cooked in the compitition but was on hand to take care of anything that anyone needed. They are already planning next year and I hope more teams will compete. The good news for Getta Grip BBQ is that it was our best contest since going Pro. 2nd in Ribs, 2nd in Brisket and 6th Overall. Next week we are off to Mulberry. A short trip for once. See ya there!!

Well it was a fun weekend in Lake City. Still learning how to hang with the BIG Boys. Team Getta Grip BBQ is moving slowly up in the overall with each compitition. 4th Place brisket was the highlight of the weekend. Walking is good. Thank you Terry for the encouragement. Looks Like Okeechobee is next. Thank you all for the support.

Wow! It's hard to believe it has been so long since we competed. Made a few changes. I guess we will see how it works out. Look forward to seeing everyone in Lake City. Good luck & Be Safe!!

Had a great time in Brooksville. Met some nice helpful people. Thank you to all of those who encouraged us and gave us some insight on the "Pro" side of the FBA. We have a long way to go but are already working on it. On a good note this was the first time we were called in the Pro Division. 6th place Brisket. Have to start somewhere. Thanks again to all of our team Bob, Rena', Mica, John, and Danielle.

Well, It's time to start getting ready for our next event. Getta Grip is off to Ocala, Florida next week for the Junior League of Ocala's "Pig Out". Looking forward to a good weekend. Please come out and join us.
