✨ Fairy Duck Eggs ✨

Some days the coop gives you a little extra magic 🪄🥚

These tiny eggs are called fairy eggs (also known as wind or fart eggs). They’re usually laid without a yolk and happen when a duck’s body releases an egg a little early or has a small hormonal hiccup. You’ll see them most with young layers just starting out, older ducks, or just randomly here and there.

Totally normal just a little quirky and extra cute 💛

Small, unexpected, and still perfect in their own way 🐥🌿

Baby Chick Update 🐣

They aren’t so little anymore and have officially been upgraded from the porch to their new CONDO now that they’re fully feathered 🤩🐓✨

They’re loving the extra space, and we’re so excited to watch them keep growing! 💛

This isn’t their complete setup just yet, so bear with us as we continue making adjustments and improvements for them. 🏡🐥

🥚 “𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝐷𝑜 𝐹𝑎𝑟𝑚 𝐸𝑔𝑔𝑠 𝐶𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑒?” 🥚

Well… pull up a chair and let’s talk. 🤍

When you buy farm eggs, you’re not just buying what’s in the shell.

You’re buying:

🌾 Non-commercial feed
🌿 Scratch grains, greens, and bugs they hunt themselves
🏡 Hens with room to roam instead of rows of cages
🪺 Hand-gathered eggs — every single morning
❄️ Careful storage and small-batch handling
💛 Time, labor, and stewardship

DID YOU KNOW:

• Grocery store eggs can be weeks old before they hit the shelf.
• Store eggs are washed in a way that removes their natural protective bloom — which is why they must be refrigerated.
• Pasture-raised hens often lay eggs with darker, richer yolks because of a more varied diet.
• Smaller flocks mean better care — but they also mean we can’t compete with industrial pricing.

Around here, we believe if the Lord entrusted us with the animals, we ought to treat them right.

Farm eggs cost more because they are more — more care, more quality, more intention.

And truth be told?
Once you taste the difference, it’s hard to go back.

We aren’t trying to be the cheapest.
We’re trying to be faithful stewards.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord…” — Colossians 3:23 🤍

Now tell me — are you team chicken, duck, or goose? 🥚👇

Why choose duck eggs? 👀

Duck eggs are a favorite for cooking and baking because they’re:

🥚 Richer & creamier – perfect for fluffy scrambled eggs and omelets
🥞 Amazing for baking – makes cakes, brownies, and cookies rise better and stay moist
🍝 Great for homemade pasta – gives noodles a richer texture and color
🍳 Perfect for frying – larger yolk = more flavor
🍮 Ideal for sweets & desserts – custards, cheesecakes, and pastries turn out extra smooth

They’re a little bigger than chicken eggs and packed with flavor once you try them, it’s hard to go back! 🦆💛

🌿🐔 Plants You Can Grow Around Your Chicken & Duck Coop (That Actually HELP!) 🦆🐔

Did you know certain plants can naturally help repel flies, pests, and even discourage predators around your coop? Adding these around your run or coop area not only looks pretty but can help keep your flock healthier too!

🌱 Herbs & Plants That Help Repel Flies + Bugs

• Lavender – Repels flies, mosquitoes, and moths. Plus it smells amazing and helps keep the coop area fresh.

• Mint (peppermint or spearmint) – Strong scent flies hate. Bonus: rodents dislike it too. Plant in containers because it spreads fast!

• Lemongrass / Citronella Grass – Naturally deters mosquitoes and flying pests.

• Basil – Helps repel flies and mosquitoes and grows easily in Florida heat.

• Marigolds – One of the BEST plants for pest control. They repel flies, mosquitoes, and some harmful insects.

🌿 Plants That May Help Deter Rodents & Predators

• Rosemary – Strong smell rodents dislike and very hardy.

• Sage – Helps repel insects and some small pests.

• Thyme – Ground cover that discourages bugs and smells great when stepped on.

• Garlic & Onions (around perimeter only) – Strong scent may discourage some pests and predators from coming too close.

🌻 Bonus Benefits
✔ Helps reduce fly populations naturally
✔ Creates shade and enrichment for chickens & ducks
✔ Encourages beneficial insects like pollinators
✔ Makes your coop area look beautiful

⚠️ Tip:
Always plant around the coop/run, not inside where birds could overeat certain plants.

A healthy coop isn’t just about cleaning smart landscaping can help your flock too! 🌱🐓🦆
