Lake County Food Share Receives Ice Bowl Donation
Lakeview, OR — Lake County Food Share (LCFS) recently received valuable donations from the local disc golf club, Level 48.
At the February 7th Annual 2026 Ice Bowl, players threw their “discs in the ring” raising $1,450 and 312 pounds of food donated to the Lake County Food Share.
“The 2026 Ice Bowl involved 15 players,” said Tournament Director Jeremy Ringulet.
Since the club began, their nine-year donations total reached $9,668 and 2,674 pounds of food. “Not bad for a handful of Frisbee throwers.” The disc event is held at Lakeview Recreational Park (formerly the Soroptimist Park). Sponsors include the local Level 48 Disc Golf Club, Blarney Brothers and KORV 93.5 “The Goose” radio station to provide supplies, equipment and advertising.
“I’m always impressed with what we manage to put together in such a small community of disc golfers,” said Ringulet. “It makes me proud to be a part of it and makes the many hours of organizing and setting up the event worth it!”
Since 1987, Ice Bowls have become a celebration of community spirit, focusing on supporting food security initiatives across the United States. The collective impact of these tournaments grows, displaying the generosity and determination of disc golfers everywhere while making a difference and fostering a unique atmosphere where camaraderie and charity combine.
LCFS has been serving residents of Lake County for over 40 years. “It is because of community donations, such as this, that allow us to continue to provide food for those who need a little bit of help,” said Ronne Lindsey, LCFS Chair. “To us, it is PRICELESS!! It’s simply ‘People Helping People’ and this community proves that over and over again.”

Disc golf is a flying disc sport where players throw discs at a metal basket target in as few throws as possible. It is like traditional golf, but with discs instead of balls and clubs. Players tee off from a designated tee pad. Each throw is made from where the previous one landed. The hole is completed when the disc lands in the basket. The lowest total throws (strokes) wins. Most courses have 9 or 18 holes. Unlike regular Frisbee, disc golf discs are smaller and more aerodynamic.
