We believe raising cattle ethically is not only non-negotiable, but our God-given duty. Pickhead Cattle (originally JD Farms) was started in 2010 with 4 heifer calves by Jane Vierzen Long. Since our origins in 2010 we have grown to 40+ head of cattle, a dozen or so chickens, and Jane has added a ranch hand (her husband Rob Long). Pickhead Cattle specializes in low cholesterol, low fat, high qualit

We have some that went in today to Jones Farm Meats in Saranac. Hanging weight will be known by Thursday.

As an fyi, there will be a 6-8 month time frame where they will not be organically fed beef available. Likely September- March 2027 ish.

Looking for healthy, local and ethically raised beef?

We got you! Available now, a large 1/4 of organically raised beef. 216.5lbs hanging is $1028 plus around $195 for standard processing (gets paid directly to the butcher, Jones Farm Meats in Saranac)

Or 1/8ths. 108.25lbs hanging. This would be $658 but would include processing.

Are you looking for delicious, lean and tender premium beef?
We have 1/4 Piedmontese available now! This breed is known for have a gene mutation that makes the meat incredibly tender. They are double-muscled, making the meat very lean and also low cholesterol. And best of all, it tastes delicious !

Message me now to reserve. We only have a few head, so this will be it until fall.
