And just like that, another fair is in the books. 🩷☁️

But this year, we get to do something we’ve never been able to do before, and I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to share just a small bit of sweetness.

These big bags are filled with all of the cotton candy we had left at the end of the fair, and on Monday they’ll be headed to Community Pathways Food Bank in Owatonna to be shared with families in the community.

One of the things I love most about my little business is getting to create something that simply makes people happy. Cotton candy isn’t a necessity, it’s a treat. And I don’t believe that someone should miss out on those little moments of joy just because life circumstances make the “extras” harder to come by.

This is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to donate our remaining cotton candy, and I’m genuinely so grateful that we can share a little bit of our hand-spun joy with others.

Maybe it makes a kid’s day. Maybe a family gets to share something fun together. Maybe it’s just a sweet little surprise when someone needs one.

Whatever it becomes, I’m happy our leftovers get to keep spreading a little joy even after the fair is over.

Everyone deserves a treat.

It’s the LAST DAY of the Steele County Free Fair! 🎡☁️💕

And WOW, y’all SHOWED UP for US this week!

You kept me so busy in my little cotton candy cart that I somehow logged 89,000 steps between Tuesday and today. 👟 My feet may never forgive you, but my heart is SO full.

Seriously, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for another incredible year at the Steele County Free Fair. Every person who stopped to tell us how much you love our cotton candy, got excited about all of our crazy flavors, or told us you wait ALL YEAR to come get cotton candy from us, you have no idea how much that means to our little family business.

We work so hard to keep bringing you fun, delicious flavors year after year, and hearing that Sweet Clouds has become part of your fair tradition truly fills our hearts with joy.

And an extra special thank you to the sweetest little girl who 3-D printed me a tiny cotton candy fidget and brought it to the cart this morning. I will absolutely treasure it.

One more day, Steele County! Come say hi, grab your favorite flavor, and help us finish another AMAZING fair week. ☁️🍭🎡

Well… today was a little busier than your average Saturday at Sweet Clouds Cotton Candy.

This morning, I left my husband and daughter in charge at the Steele County Free Fair while I made a quick trip up to Minneapolis for a tiny little thing…

I GRADUATED WITH MY MASTER’S DEGREE! 🎓

I officially earned my M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, a master’s degree in education!

Then, because apparently graduating wasn’t enough for one day, I traded my diploma for a shopping cart, made a supply run to restock after another busy fair day, and headed right back down to Steele County to jump into the food truck.

So today’s schedule looked something like:
🎓 Graduate with my master’s
🛒 Buy an unreasonable amount of sugar (another 250lbs) 
🚗 Drive back to the fair
☁️ Get back to work

And the best part is my name was wrong at graduation and I have been renamed Sparkle Lynn Krystal Ball, which may honestly be the greatest name ever given to a special education teacher. ✨🔮

A huge thank you to my husband and daughter for holding down the business so I could have this moment today, and then welcoming me right back into the chaos afterward.

Now, Professor Sparkle Lynn Krystal Ball has cotton candy to make.

Attention photographers offering mini sessions at the Steele County Free Fair, if you pre-arrange it with us, we will open early to make you sticks of cotton candy for your photo sessions! Sticks are $5 but add such a sweet treat to your fair photos!

As I picked fresh produce from my vegetable garden this morning, and actually made a plan to bring some of it with to snack on while I’m at Goodhue County Fair this week it got me thinking:

I need to send a shout out to our fellow food truck families that check in on me (I’m often running things solo) and FEED ME during these long fair stretches.

First off, the best pork chop on a stick and cobbler in a cone Concessions. If you ever come across either of their booths make sure you get a pork chop and add the bourbon caramel to your dessert, it’s life changing.

Then we have Little Piggies EFS! Dani would live off their nachos if she should. They are such an amazing family and we are so thankful to have you a part of our fair family.

Last but not least Lakes Co Eats, between the cheese bread and their cheese cake I can’t even pick a favorite. Everything they create is amazing.

We love our Fair family and are very thankful we have such support and love while we work the fair circuit every year!
