At our last hive inspection, Three of our hives were knocked down.

Was it bears? 🐻 While we’re not 100% certain- we do know that there have been tons of bear sightings and activity around west Jeffco Colorado- every day Nextdoor is literally up with more reports.

One thing we do know is that our non-winter and super hot dry summer has caused a food shortage for wildlife.

We made the choice with the advice and guidance from Colorado Parks and Wildlife to install a bear fence at one of our most vulnerable apiaries. Another will be going in shortly. We need to protect our bees and the honey they have stored for the winter.

The hives at this site have all had their honey supers pulled and with the help of our City Park Farmers Market friends Sean & Logan they have are ready to go into winter. 🐝

Love my full time Beekeeping gig!

Spent Thursday working bees with a 4H group out at the Pivot Solar Farm apiary.

The curiosity and imagination of our youth about bees, pollinators and ag never cease to inspire me.

Our baby Toulouse Geese, Amelie and Marie are out getting some fresh air this afternoon. They are the sweetest and friendliest geese!

My goodness how fast ducks and geese grow. They still have downy fluff but are starting to get their feathers.

We will have a small batch- limited quantity of our Lavender Infused Honey- our honey infused with our organically grown culinary Lavender!
