Practice pumpkins. Was a little late getting in a few pumpkins this year. Won’t get to use them for Halloween or early fall decor so we are calling this pumpkin practice for a big 2024 pumpkin patch. Who’s in?!

Porch progress before and after. I always wanted to paint a porch ceiling blue. The history and tradition is so interesting and quirky and they say it may even deter bugs!

We have been working on ways to attract and support wildlife here at Highgrove. In just one year letting taller grasses grow in some fields has attracted turkeys and wild birds of all types. Even though the wildflowers and zinnias are a bit scant in their first year and in need of some rain, there are always countless butterflies especially lots of Spicebush Swallowtail like you see here. They are the state butterfly of MS BTW. Speaking of butterflies did you know the Migratory Monarch Butterfly is now endangered? 😢 Hoping we can see a few for the fall migration!
